Thought I'd post that whilst some so-called "autism advocacy" groups don't really like we who are autistic. . .

. . .That my local chapter of the Autism Society of America, that had already voted me as board member, just voted to send me to Orlando Florida in July as our official representative to the national ASA conference.

ASA likes us! I LOVE THE ASA!

He's referring to the many autism organizations that lack any actual autistic member. "Autism speaks" to be chief among them, their name be particularly ironic. If you want Autism to speak all you need to do is ask any Autistic person who has a means of communication. "Autism speaks" only speaks for the parents of severely autistic people, not the autistic people themselves.

Thanks for explaining.

I wouldn't want someone to speak for me as an aspie without consulting me first.

Same here. I am also on the board of my local ASA chapter in the Kansas City area. It is an excellent organization.
