Was the mis-spelling of 'against' in the title supposed to be ironic? :p

I once beat up the "toughest kid in school" in my freshman year for calling me ret*d... He never did it again.

Did you know that most misspellings occur while home alone?

sorry I'm being a butt :P

anyway I don't really like the word and don't like anyone calling me that I'm not mentally ret*d I'm awkward and different at worst.

I'm not Mentally ret*d either, and I wish that people would stop abusing the word, ret*d.

Actually I think the diagnoses criteria for Asperger's Syndrome at least indirectly states we can't be mentally ret*d. While a ret*d aspie might be theoretically possible, it's also indistinguishable from LFA (which ironically might be independent from true mental retardation anyways).

ME!! !! !! !! !
I CAN'T STAND THAT WORD!! !! I get sick of people using it in casual banter, because I was severely Autistic, and what people would call ret*d. It's insulting to use it in any case, let alone when the person is not even CLOSE to being ret*d!

I was never called ret*d myself but I hate the way most people use it. They use it completely out of context and label anyone that can't function on their social level as such.

I was called retarted all the time in middle and high school, it pissed me off so much! My IQ is above average too!
I'll admit, I space out sometimes, but I'm smart. Just remember that you're smart and don't let it bother you if that happens.

*laughs* I'd better not tell you mine then. It's fairly scary :D

hmm...

re*tard*ed adj. less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age.

well, I think that the social and physical certainly apply to me, so that doesn't offend me. as for mental, well....... no one would call my mind ret*d xD

i tell people i am ret*d all the time.

"oh, i'm just ret*d and crazy... it's ENDEARING, ok!"

i prefer to be affectionately called a ret*d, rather than venomously called something more innocuous. and it is a FAR superior label than "average" and "mediocre," which is all NORMAL means anyway.

embrace your inner ret*d!
