Today since my husband is likely losing his job, he can find another but instead of fixing up and selling his grandmothers house in a rural area we have decided to move there he is already looking for a job, in the area the house will need a lot of work but it's bigger then where we rent now, Anyhow the thing is the kids are anything but happy about it , this is a huge transition and how does one work with hat and explaining and getting them less upset about this move? Has anyone dealt with this before and what did they try?

to make your transition as smooth as possible, try to get photos of where you'll be moving to....for example, you might be able to get a photo of the local library or the town hall.....you could also let them know that even though the place they are living is going to change, some things will still remain the same-for instance, you'll still go grocery shopping on Wednesdays, or they'll still take a nap after lunch..........you also need to let them know about the things that will change , but possibly for better- for example, your son will now be able to have his own room...or the kids will be able to play outside more because the area is more rural.

I experienced this very thing as a teen. The first month is the toughest. People in rural areas tend to be much nicer and more outgoing. I had more friends than at any other time in my life.

It might take a little bribery, but your kids should adapt to country life, its way nicer then living in town

spudnik your rabbit is scary

and moving to a rural area doesn't necessarily mean the people are nicer....

I lived in a metropolis where I had a nice niche and had found a group of friends then moved to a rural area and they all seemed to hate me (or were just plain mean/dumb)

I would suggest internet searches on the area, pictures of the new house, mapping the layout of the new house and maybe even planning where all your furniture will be going
