I had to get a root canal today but I was so very comforted with the lead apron. I almost considered asking them to leave it on me. It was cozy.

Does anyone else like the pressure of that? I don't have a weighted blanket, but I think I'm going to look into getting or making one.

I do like the sensation of pressure, but the weighted blankets are pretty expensive. A good substitute is my sister's 20-lb cat sitting in my lap. 8)

I like these too...I asked my dentist to leave the lead vest on for the entire vistit, and she did. I found it very comfortable!

I hadn't been to the dentist in almost twenty years and was terrified. When they put the lead apron on me it was VERY soothing and I did ask them to leave it on. It helped a lot. Like a mini version of Temple Grandin's squeeze machine.

I always loved the lead apron. I've never thought about asking them to leave it on though XD, might try that next time.

Its a vest-like thing that they put on you when they are taking x-rays. There is lead sewn into the vest that shields you from the radiation.

I absolutely love it. I have to get x-rays often, not dental ones, but still i get the lead apron on me a lot... i even think of becoming a radiology technician possibly, just so i can wear it all the time haha. i especially like the PVC coated ones, they are really warm and soft and smooth feeling at the hospital... the lead is so soft it feels like really heavy liquid on top of you... i would love to buy one for myself, a weighted blanket just is not enough and they dont make them in the same material they do the aprons haha...

Can someone please show me a lead apron? I dont think we have those here in Norway. As for liking weighted blankets i can relate. I always sleep with something heavy ontop of me, even if its boiling hot outside. I went nuts when i went to Spain when i was 10, cause there were only sheets to cover yourself in, and i started searching the whole hotel room for something heavier. I eventually ended up with several sheets and blankets ontop of me, cause i just cant sleep with just a sheet as a cover.
