below are the suggestions which have not been incorporated into the new guidelines, and the reasons why:
1. make the mods' forum open to the public board.
much of the discussion on the mods' forum is about members and their actions. some of this is about vulnerable members, and thereby not appropriate for public viewing. site policy is to approach members who have violated the guidelines privately, so as not to cause public recriminations or slanging matches. by consensus, the mods felt that this suggestion was inappropriate.
2. a way for members to delete posts in every forum.
deleting posts en masse compromises the stability of the site, and so this suggestion cannot be implemented.
3. mods to step in over bad manners and incivility, not just abuse.
this is a site for people with AS and autism, and so it may be that people are blunter than usual. apart from anything else, this suggestion would severely curtail debate, and standards of politesse differ between cultures, so this would be almost impossible to define, anyway.
hope this explains things. there were 18 suggestions, and only 3 which, after discussion, the mods felt were untenable.
thanks to everyone who had an input into the redrafting process.
