New York is always getting done in, what was the last one that destroyed it, Cloverfield, at least LA got it also in Day After
I can't wait for the Hulk vs Wolverine because Calgary gets destroyed, yaaaa

Unsophisticated and full of plot holes. Its appeal relied more on special effects than on anything else.

There are two classic types of stories:

- Plot Driven: Typified by the "Slasher" genre, wherein a group of people must be murdered one-by-one until the last person confronts the threat and eliminates it for ever ... or do they?

- Character Driven: People with goals, methods, and motivations move the story along a treacherous course to the final climactic scene. Then everybody lives happily ever after.

Now a third story type has been added:

- Effects Driven: Explosions, sweeping vistas, car chases, explosions, gunfights, dizzying heights, explosions, floods, blizzards ... did I mention explosions? Characters are one-dimensional, dialogue is stilted and mechanical, and the situation itself strains credibility to the limit. Welcome to The Day After Tomorrw, Cloverfield, Independence Day, et cetera et ad nauseum.

Don't worry, the movie was inaccurate according to the scientists.

I have to say the news on the tv scares me more than any movie.
That might be because I have seen more than a few, more "numb"
maybe, "just a movie" feeling.

:lmao:

The film didn't bother me, the problem was they just pushed the science too far too fast and into the realms of disbelief.
It was an entertaining film though.

I think it was just another showcase for special effects.

It certainly made me think, but it's possibly
because the early scares were set here in
Scotland instead of the usual New York or
LA ! I found it very watchable on both
scientific and entertainment levels.
