I am usually in bed about 11 or midnight or later. It just depends.

I feel out of place amongst all of you night owls! I usually have a hard time staying awake past 10 PM (and I don't medicate). I guess the stimulation of the day just wears me out. oh well...

I guess you might call me an early bird since I can't stay in bed past 8AM even if I only got 4 hours of sleep... GRRR :D
It's really hard for me if I try to do any last minute assignments for school that require staying up much later.

i love the night :D I can do anything i want without the fear of interacting with anyone. My neighbors go to work(about right now) around 4:30 or so and thats usually when i turn in. Like another poster said, its my 'me' time. After the draining day, i can finally settle down.

I'm somewhat addicted to (safe-for-work) websites, so I sleep when I feel like it.

I stay up until 12:00 to 1:00, though I can go longer than that, but I can't because my mom would put sleeping powder in my hot chocolate...if I still refuse to sleep, they would scold me.....

Before I moved in with my fiancee, I would be up until at least 4:00 AM every single day (even days I had work at 6 AM). Mainly because the twilight hours were the only ones where my family were quiet and I could concentrate enough to write and pursue my hobbies without feeling overloaded. Nowadays, I tend to head to bed around 1 or 2, but usually play games or surf the web on my ipod till 3 or 4.

One of the main "why am i so different?" questions I pondered was why I was a night owl!

I remember pondering this for months at about age 6, coming up with a theory, double-checking my baby book and announcing to my parents "I fall asleep late because I was born at night and my body hasn't caught up like other peoples' ". They laughed and continued their conversation and I had to keep wondering for 22 years to find out the answer (and to a million similar questions)... was AS!

I only needed about 4 hrs to function well until my 20s, although a few months of almost total insomnia as a teen can't have been good for my exam grades. Even in my early 20s when I went clubbing til 4.30am, drinking and dancing, I'd often be up at 7.30/8 bright and cheery... and sober again too (I don't get drunk easily-too in control)!

Now my perfect schedule would be nocturnal- bed at 3am for 6 hrs, but my partner works from 8am so we usually go to bed at 1am where I sort of self-hypnotise myself to sleep haha :/ I know I'm really not well if I can nap during the day.

I'm quite contradictory with this. I like to be in bed by 11pm at the latest, and don't often stay up late after 11. That's why I don't like being out in the evenings much, I just get unsettled if I am not in bed by a certain time. I like to get into bed at a reasonable time and wind down by watching a DVD.

The contradictory part is, I'm not a morning person, but I like mornings at the same time. I don't like getting up too early, and I don't feel like eating anything too early in the morning. But I like the morning atmosphere. Perhaps I prefer mornings after 8.30am.

So I'm not sure if I'm an early bird or a night owl really. I feel more socially motivated in the mornings than I do at night. But since I have gone on anti-depressants, I like spending a lot of time in bed, because of emotional tiredness.

I am a natural night owl, and can be a grumpy a**hole in the mornings.

However, I need my 8-9 hours sleep so I will go to bed according to when I have to be up. When in a routine, I can get to sleep after 45-60 minutes (I absolutely have no ability to switch my mind off, ever) even if that's a 10pm turn in.

If, like this week, I don't have to be up for work or anything, I find that I'm up until 2-3am. In the winter it can be later, but this time of year at the height of Summer, I need to go to bed by 2.30am at the latest otherwise the birds will keep me awake once they wake up around 3.30ish when it starts to get light outside.

Bed time has to be perfectly dark and perfectly silent.

I usually go to bed between 3 and 4. Seems like the norm for us based on the responses.

I sleep 8 hours a day, 10pm to 6am, everyday like clockwork for 20 years.
