[quote="human_calculator"]In December 2006, I had a kidney infection (pyelonephritis) had to be given IV antibiotics in hospital. I've had about 4 more since then, but not for a few months. However, I regularly have pain in my kidneys, without having an infection.Did the first infection mess them up?or does having one make others more likely?[/quote

IF YOUR KIDNEYS HURT, SEE A DOCTOR. Or drink more water. Try laying off the salts or Ibeprophen or advil, they put stress on your kidneys. Use tylenol for pain instead.

I have PKD (polycystic Kidney Disease: a deadly, genetic disease) My mom and my sister have it too so I have to keep an eye on my kidneys. If they hurt, it usually means I'm not drinking enough.

I had a kidney infection after my son was born. It wasn't severe by any means but I remember the pain and nausea, ugh. I didn't have to go on IV antibiotics but I was on a strong one and it took care of it.

I actually have them a lot, and am also worried by that fact. I've actually got one right now.

I know it doesn't work for everyone, but drinking cranberry juice always helps me when I feel like I've got a UTI.
