Caring Philosopher

You have one of the three Smoke personalities. You are creative and love to explore new things, but also want to get them right. Any Smoke Personality is some flavor of Philosopher at heart.

The caring philosopher is likely to give a lot of thought to how people interact and how they should interact. The Human Resources department will get a disproportionate number of people with this personality type. The word "caring" may sometimes be used to mean "loving" but it is being used more literally here. This personality type includes both benefactors and malefactors. People who want others to suffer care about how they feel. This person is very creative and connected to the way people work, but often not so connected to the way the physcial world works. They probably can't fix a car.

Tinker
7 Earth, 0 Air, 0 Fire and -7 Water!

You have one of the seven Earth personalities. You build stuff and make it work in the real world. Things wouldn't work without Earth personalities around. If you were a Doctor, you be the one who knows how to make a proper splint and get the MRI machine to do something useful.

Your personality is well suited to crafting. You like to build things and make them really work. You have a good feel for what makes something cool and right, and you have enough creativity to make it all fun and different. Still, you are likely to think the slogan "Arts and Crafts" is a little backward. "Crafts and Arts" is more your pace. Your best relationships are with people who can appreciate the little and no-so-little things you do to build, fix, and improve. If someone thinks of this as just fiddling, they probably aren't a match.

Pure Engineer

You have one of the three Ember personalities. Ember personalities gravitate strongly toward engineering. The engineers are sometimes better at building actual inventions than inventors because the engineer can get everything right, lock down the target and actually finish. The stereotype is that you don't connect with other people well and aren't a big fan of artsy things. That stereotype can be exagerated. It often is, but it came from somewhere familiar, right?

The Pure Engineer is balanced between the other types of engineers. Your best relationships are with useful people, and you tend to get annoyed at the suggestion that there is something wrong with you socially because you don't act like a flake. Either that or you embrace the image of being a nerd and play it up. Creativity isn't a particular strength, but you can be creative when a problem demands it. The modern world wouldn't work without people like you to keep it running.

Serious Friend

Water personalities tend to care about the connections between people and emotions and caring. If you were a doctor, you'd care about how your patient felt.

Like all the other water categories, relationships with other people are the biggest part of your life. Silliness just isn't the thing you most want in those relationships. Maybe you can tolerate that silliness in others, but that is what you are doing: tolerating, not enjoying. You can get things done when you have to, and have never had much trouble telling right from wrong. For you, the work is so you can afford to spend time with your friends, or maybe it was for them in the first place. And right to you means what makes people feel better. Its about the people.

Idealist

As a Doctor, you would be most interested in indetifying the patient's problem so you cut it out or kill it or whatever.

You are the Idealist. The most important thing to you is what is right, and it seems a bit odd to you that this isn't true for everyone. Come to think of it, you may not be convinced that this isn't true for everyone, at least at some level. Your friendships are generally based on aquaintances, and you have a stronger tendency than most to lose track of people if there isn't some other reason to come in contact with them. When you hold a belief, you tend to hold it strongly or not at all. Middle ground isn't your forte.

If it is cool and fun then that is what matters. You can sometimes put a lot of imporatance on other people's opinions of your ideas and trust their opinions as much or more than your own.

You figure that the best questions are the ones that give you some insight into the truth. Your personality revolves around what it right, and you are somewhere in between the moralist and the philosopher in terms of your outlook on life. Work to you means figuring things out, not building them. Many science fiction authors show world where robots and similar technology take care of all the mundane work, and that would suit you just fine.

Confused / Confusing
1% Earth, -1% Air, -4% Fire and 4% Water!

This is the middle category, and the most difficult to describe. After a few thousand test takers, I found there were two main groups of people who fell into this category. The first group were people who skipped questions. The way the scoring works, you really need to answer all the questions and futhermore not choose the same choice twice in a group of four. To those people who filled out the test correctly and scored here "for real", let me apologise for having to wade through the comment about the incorrect testers. Unfortunately the "error group" seems to outnumber you by a considerable margin.

With only 16 questions, I really can't tell the difference between not having strong feelings (apathy) and having strong feelings in balance with each other (ambivalence). I wonder which describes you.

Among those people who score here for real, there is an overwhelming disproportion of young people. OKC divides the stats into the 19&under bucket, then 20-24, and so on. Well over 90% of the people who scored this category (other than those in the "error group") are under 24, and the proportion of 19&unders is even higher. This is the most common category with room to spare for those under 24, and the rarest category for those over 30. For you statistics geeks like me, this is two deviations above the mean(under 24), compared to one and a half below (30 and up). The most common job is "student" and the most common major among the students is "undeclared"

I also get lots of reports from the more eloquent members of this age group that they could easily have ordered their choices differently. My theory is that the questions I've asked are based on feelings of what is important, and that those feeling get reinforced by experience. Many of the younger test takers just haven't fixed their opinions and values on those subjects, so the test doesn't measure them.

As for the older (40+) test takers who score this category (without being in the error group), you are overwhelmingly significantly less likely to have had children, but I haven't been able to pin down much beyond that. Sorry.

You want to have some part of the idea be your own, and you want the result to be right and really work. Purely abstract ideas and visions aren't enough for you. Given the choice between being praised for mediocre work versus doing excellent work that isn't noticed, you would rather do things right. You are happier when you get to change things in important ways.

Concepts like right and wrong or even correct and incorrect are just impediments to slow down the free flow of ideas and emotions, as far as you are concerned. Life should be about making cool stuff and doing cool stuff, not about worrying. Relationships with other people are a fluid thing for you. There are some people you seem to stick around forever, and others who pass by with hardly a trace. Of course, "forever" is a relative term. Sometimes a year is forever.

Chaos is not something you enjoy in your life, and you find it easier to get things done when you have the time to make sense of everything first.
