I'm afraid to say that unless you're female, the odds are stacked heavily against you. For every girl with AS, there are 4 guys that have it, or was it five? It seems you've got hefty competition. May the luck go to the most honorable, or me.

That's only those with a formal diagnosis, though. Many female Aspies can somehow evade the diagnosis criteria for reasons I don't know.

Aspie traits grate harsher against the traditional NT male behavioral standards and therefore make it less transparent than it is when measured against the traditional NT female behavioral standards.
A female who is withdrawn is simply thought of as shy. A male who is withdrawn must "have something wrong with him" or "must be gay". Women who have a "freak out" (or sensory meltdown as we know it to be) are just being "emotional" or "hormonal". Men who "freak out" are again looked at as "freaks", "mentally ill" or (again, everyone's favorite homophobic label to use on anyone that's different) "gay". Really sad to think that this general observation on human judgemental behavior is accurate, but sadly it is.
Just thought you'd like to know the theory behind the male-female ratio of Aspies.
