I'm afraid to say that unless you're female, the odds are stacked heavily against you. For every girl with AS, there are 4 guys that have it, or was it five? It seems you've got hefty competition. May the luck go to the most honorable, or me. :P

That's only those with a formal diagnosis, though. Many female Aspies can somehow evade the diagnosis criteria for reasons I don't know.

Also, try www.aspieaffection.com

It is a virtual dating site. It's pretty fun.

Tim, not as much study is put into how AS affects females as it is with guys though, that's why.

I met a whole bunch of female aspies in the chat rooms yesterday.

I'm not looking for a relationship, just someone to talk to intimately.

This is terrible, and I can relate to it. I've always felt marginalized by society because of my condition. People don't take me seriously because I devote most of my time to art and self-discovery instead of being into guy things like cars and football. People often ostracize people who don't fit into their primitive, one-dimensional perceptions of gender roles. My mother lived with a severe depression but my father never even considered the possibility that she may be ill, because in his mind 'all women are crazy'.

Aspie traits grate harsher against the traditional NT male behavioral standards and therefore make it less transparent than it is when measured against the traditional NT female behavioral standards.

A female who is withdrawn is simply thought of as shy. A male who is withdrawn must "have something wrong with him" or "must be gay". Women who have a "freak out" (or sensory meltdown as we know it to be) are just being "emotional" or "hormonal". Men who "freak out" are again looked at as "freaks", "mentally ill" or (again, everyone's favorite homophobic label to use on anyone that's different) "gay". Really sad to think that this general observation on human judgemental behavior is accurate, but sadly it is.

Just thought you'd like to know the theory behind the male-female ratio of Aspies.

Sorry you're lonely... please don't give up on us yet! Probably there are quite a few of us who can relate to the frustrations you mentioned. I do wonder what was in your original post before editing it, however. Your art site is pretty neat, by the way. :D
