Has anybody here who lives in the LA area(or visited there in the last few years) seen THIS:

I have to say, I think its actually quite funny  . Ive never been to LA and quite frankly I have NO real desire to go there unless I had an official reason to. I think of it as an ugly, tacky, smoggy, violent wasteland. Much more like one of those big dirty cities in Latin American than a stylish US city. I imagine LA and De Effe have a lot in common. :?

L.A. rocks. I grew up here. There is no finer place on the planet to live. The people are great. The multi-cultural diversity in my community is so cool. I have been to many other places, but L.A. is the place I love to come back to. It is home!

the best way to describe it out here is a third world city.

rolling blackouts (what other first world country has rolling blackouts?), police choppers/pervasive police presence, litter everywhere, horrible driving, painful highways to drive on, painful drivers to try and tolerate.

never seen that billboard, though. probably up somewhere in east LA. maybe on ceasar chavez. though there are signs out where i live that are only in spanish.

I used to live in LA, I HATED IT! Especially when I was the only white kid in school, and my nick-names were: Snowball, Snowwhite, wh***y, Honkey, Sugar-Bitch, and my favorite one of them all: cum-sucking-retarded-bitch-numb-cunt-ass-hole-dick-faced-shit-hole

I have very horrible experiences from living in LA, and living just outside of the LA area in Apple Valley and Victorville.

But, I would love to live in Apple Valley again, just not with the people!
So for now, I live in Lexington, Kentucky.... MUCH better community!

Im just curious, where the racial insults you got coming primarily from the Black kids, or the mexicans? Or perhaps both.
I have read in several blogs among white professionals in LA a lot of complaints about increasing racism towards white people coming not from blacks but from the Mexicanos. And skafather84, Im not the LEAST bit suprised about the things you mentioned.LA is drifting further and further from the rest of the US towards Latin America. It doesnt help that the Mexican Mob(La Eme)is runnin' the show either :? . On top of that you have quite a bit of violence on a daily basis. Dont believe me? Just look it up on the LA Times Homicide Blog :skull:

The last time anyone used a racial insult on me was in... 1971! I was in Junior High School! Two black kids rode up to me on their bikes after school and told me that, and I quote, "White boys ain't supposed to have naturals!" (I had a huge fro at the time.) The punk who was talking swung at me, but I grabbed his arm and threw him off his bicycle with a classic judo throw. His "buddy" rode off before he hit the ground, and I tore out of there, too. I never got f*cked with at school again after that. L.A. ROCKS!

My extended family is multi-ethnic, and that is some seriously racist mentality in your head.

the racial slurs came from both sides, but primarily from the Hispanics.

I didnt mean to personally insult you Larree nor am I trying to bash Mexicanos. But the thing is, a lot of the Mexicanos in LA really seem to be full of aggressive racism towards ANYONE who isnt Latino-EVEN Blacks! Im beginning to wonder if Blacks are going to start leaving LA in droves the same way that middle class whites did in the 80s and 90s. It used to be Black vs. White 20 years ago now its Latino vs. everyone else.

I've been to LA twice and I think it's a great city.

No problem! But, I get smiles from everyone I meet around town. When you are respectful towards people you get respect back. I am 50, and I have lived here my whole life. You can't believe everything you see and hear on television! L.A. ROCKS!

racism seems to go in cycles. irish and italian then blacks and now mexicans/latinos.

and i don't think it has anything to do with the nationalistic makeup of the area as to why it's dirty and so much crap. it's more due to how much poverty and how poor the education is for so many people out here.

well that and if you're living in LA, +60% of your income goes to taxes. and unless you're a rich bleeding heart, this place milks you pretty dry...well that and how overpriced housing is.

and gas gets 50 extra cents added to the price because the bleeding hearts have to pay for their sins out here. probably was a great idea when that 50 cents was on only $1.50/gal gas but as with everything else, the shortsightedness of the bleeding hearts out here didn't consider that if there is actually a problem coming up with gas that the price would naturally go up and limit who can fill up.

LA is a place for the shortsighted, racists (there's a lot of racism out here hidden under PC semantics), and shallow. and of course, the lovers of big brother....gotta love the signs up everywhere with big brother reminding you to use blue tooth headsets because it's now the law.
