Has anyone seen this Robin Williams thriller?

I have seen this about three or four times
and always has a notion that his character, Sy Parrish the Photo Guy,
may be an Aspie.

Does anyone agree?

I don't know about aspie, although he was very isolated.

Still, gives me chills just thinking about it.

I'm not sure i'd say he is an aspie, but he is definately someone without great social skills. I love that movie. It does get to me though. Maybe because i see a part of myself in Sy.

I've only seen it once, a while ago. I don't know about him being aspie, I think he's more damaged by his life, you know? I dunno... Good film, but creeped me out, I'm not sure if i'd watch it again.

Well, that movie is definite proof that Williams CAN be scary when he puts his mind to it!

I love that movie! I always thought of him as sort of on the borderline between Aspieness and NTism.
It hurts my heart to watch it because it's so creepy but I have so much sympathy for him.

I found the film kinda corny. Especially that scene where they reveal how Sy spends his evenings ... like ... alone, staring into space, surrounded by photos he shouldn't own, depicting people he doesn't really know. It didn't really offer anything new, just a load of cliches about loners and mental imbalance.

But perhaps it's true what they say ... cliches ain't cliches for nothing.

Throughout the movie he looked quite aspie.. odd gait, robotic movement, Dahmer glasses, distant, you don't know what he is thinking behind this wax-statue perfection, awkward conversations, obsessive, as a kid was sickly and not good at sports...

Yet his confessions at the end of the movie clearly imply that he is suffering from PTSD due to child abuse. So not really aspie after all...
