Unfortunately; snake oil is legal thanks to that little bit of fine print...

Who played the victim? The victims here are the children of gullible morons who believe that crap.

Sorry, quick bit here - when did I play a victim? slowmutant, don't apply the "everybody" note without evidence - something these chelation nuts quite lack.
Orwell, however, is quite right - the true victims are the children of these people. How would you like a restricted diet, psychological and physical abuse, having acid pumped into you through an IV or a magic "chelation pill" bit of snake oil?

The reason many are upset is for one, these children do not deserve this to be done to them, but two, this is both an illogical, unfounded practice, and it furthers the "diseased" autistic stereotype - which many of us can live without.

It's not the fact that they're trying to cure autism that's the problem. (at least for me) It's the fact that they are selling an unproven treatment, and that they damn well know that chelation can seriously harm and even kill you. Have a look at the Wikipedia page. It's not fun stuff; some of the chemicals are illegal or known dangerous.
