Hi, I'm new here... well, I've been sort of lurking around for a while, to be honest, without posting anything. Anyhow, I was curious- what is the landscape of your special little "inner world", like where you go when things get too insane outside?
I know mine often involves blue rhododendrons and black and white linoleum, but what about you all? Do certain symbols or colors have a strange significance to you? Does anyone else feel that they use these symbols to make sense of the world and cope with being overwhemled?

My inner world includes a lone mansion surrounded by a lush garden. There is a forest and a beach as well. A little ways away from the mansion is a small city, where the residents of my mansion can go to buy things that they need.

My sanctuary is my car. Nobody bothers me when I'm in my car.

My actual one used to be a closet. My family lived in motels for some time, and that's just the place I'd sit and read, or go on the computer, or just listen to my music. It was my actual "room" because of how small the place was.

Kinda sorta haven-books. Dean Koontz in particular. They just seem so real, and the characters I wish I could just meet sometimes. I had a hard time with other books of fiction, King in particular, but I got around to him and others later. Every book seemed so dang "out there" except Koontz.

I tried drawing my actual "fort" at one time, cross between Hanging Gardens of Babylon and survival fortress. Never worked out on paper, tho the idea still sticks in my brain. Some of my obsessions seem to be trying to fulfill the early childhood dream...

A deserted island, sand, seashells, shade trees, nice breeze, gentle waves.
