Because of some relatively recent unforntuate circumstances, i am feeling left out of wrongplanet. I feel not up to aspie standards and am unable to truely participate.

There is no such thing as 'aspie standards'
you just be who you are, do not think you should be fitting in and should be a carbon-copy of a 'typical aspie' because there is not typical aspie.

By posting this you are participating. We all get off days when it feels like we are alone and nobody listens. Just post what is on your mind at the time. Aspie standards? What are they? All I know is there are a lot of people here who are as weird as me so I post whatever and whenever depending on the mood. It goes with the aspie territory.

I what know what you mean nightbender, I don't really feel a part of the community, the majority
of my posts never get a reply. It really got to me when I posted the death of my pet on tuesday,
not one reply. It hurt not being acknowledge, but then, most of my posts are ignored anyhow. I have
decided to only post occasionally, and only to people are trying to be a part of the community.
So your not alone when it comes to being ignored.

its also because my socio-political philosophical views seem to go against the prevailing grain here.

i feel the effects of these "meds" are turning people off whom i would ordinarly be impressing/befriending.

I think a lot of aspies (me included) tend to avoid saying anything about death, even if it "just" a pet rather than a human being because we tend to put our foot in it and say the wrong thing. I also have a strong urge to make a joke of the matter which doesn't tend to go down very well. Sorry you lost your pet by the way. I lost a German shepherd and it still makes me sad when I think about it.

Wow, spudnik, sorry, I did not even see that - I'm really sorry to hear it! :(

I guess this is an example of people just missing a post rather than intentionally ignoring it. So don't feel left out, nightbender. I have deleted almost all of my OPs, because it embarrasses me that no one seems to care to respond to most of them.

Hi City, thanks, I deleted the post in a fit of emo rage, I had posted it in one of the pet threads, and there it sat for 4 days, not even a remark like oh I don't like ferrets, or ferrets stink, at least that would have been something, its like the post killed the thread.

I did not see the loss of pet post, but still probably would not have responded. I not only have trouble expressing grief, but also trouble relating to other people's grief. I probably would have said the wrong thing too. The one time I did try to show sympathy here; I was basically told they did not want my pity. I tend to not read the haven. Those people are hurting and deserve the compassionate replies they receive. For some reason, I seem to screw things like that up.

As for the OP...I do not feel I meet those standards either, but then again my self esteem has never been that great. As for feeling left out, I doubt I will ever truly feel 'in' here on wrongplanet, since I have never felt that way anywhere else.

That must be common with aspies, not feeling like they fit in anywhere, even an aspie forum, I am not sure empathy is the issue, it how to express it, which I think makes most people believe we don't have it, when we obviously do.

I'm not so sure in my case. I often get a little annoyed when people try to tell me their personal troubles. Part of it is due to the fact that I really don't know what to say to them, but if I am to be truly honest; I would have to admit that sometimes I really don't care. This also reflects on my self esteem...makes me feel like a pretty crappy excuse for a human being sometimes.

I've gotten that feeling sometimes, most of the posts I make that I really want to be answered go unanswered. I try to look at it from my own perspective regarding other members posts. Most of the time I have nothing relevant to say so I just don't say anything at all.

I guess the wanting to be a part of WP feeling reflects our inner desire to fit in somewhere since most of us don't or cannot fit in anywhere else in the world.

I am real sorry your stinky ferret died, Spudie. I hope he had a good life and played with plenty of ferrety toys and got to nip your toes in affection, now and then.
Losing someone we love is always difficult and I hope you might find it soothing to get another ferret. Although he will not replace the one you lost, he will ferret out another place in your heart.

Sorry to hear that, Spudnik, I didn't see your post - it's so sad losing pets, I know people say 'it's just an animal' but it's not, they're a part of the family and you love them dearly. Hope you're coping ok.

I never saw the ex-ferret post, Spud. Sorry for your loss. Don't they die if they don't get sex or something?

I've been posting quite a long time and I don't feel especially connected to any people or group here. I think some of the other older people like the Dino cafe because it's a 'they know me' environment. Some of the young people seem to form friendships. I just post as an individual. I got used to feeling unconnected and invisible here. That's how it is for me IRL too.
