Okay I get mad at my boyfriend sometimes because of his ignorance. He has said some things that made me snap.

One time I was talking to him about what a member did on here to another member. She told him if he can use a computer, he can have a job. If he can dig holes he can have a job, if he can climb a mountain he can have a job. My boyfriend laughed and I asked him what was so funny thinking he was laughing because she was so ignorant but no my boyfriend said it was all true. WTF. Having a job and using a computer or climbing a mountain or digging holes are totally different.

Another thing he did today was I was watching a video on youtube about Droopy and my boyfriend asked what was wrong with her and I said "She's autistic." My boyfriend said how can she type but not talk? She should be able to talk if she can type he said. That comment angered me. I told him "Typing and talking are two different things."
Then my boyfriend said he does better on the computer because he can socialize better and people are easier to be with. I told him "So I can say then if he can socialize well on the computer, he can do the same in real life." My way of showing how how talking and typing are two different things just like socializing online and in real life are two different things. I used other examples with him like if he can remember some things, then he can remember other things too and he doesn't have brain damage. My boyfriend started laughing. I used other examples I can't remember of but I think he got my point finally about talking and typing are two different things because he was laughing.

Does anyone get so mad about someone's ignorance you snap, you yell at them or you are talking in a screechy voice because you can't believe someone you know is that ignorant?

In my mind I am yelling "You are so stupid." I have thought that about my own boyfriend but haven't said it out loud to him. My tolerance for ignorance is so low, I have troubles being friendly about it. Instead I am yelling at them, even at my own boyfriend because I am so upset instead of nicely educating them by explaining it to them about something in a nice tone of voice instead of screechy or raised voice. Anyone have that problem too?

I didn't mean to make it sound trivial.
It's an issue. You need to figure it out your way.

frankly... if i had teh guts i'd sock him one. but in my mind he's not the type of person i'd want to befriend/date. however... it may be wise some day to sit down when your both feeling calm and educate him a little. but i totally respect you being anoyed at him. i would too.

That's the reason I stopped dating. I wasn't able to stand the stupid opinions and would go berserk and snap, ruining it.

I'm not saying all guys are stupid, of course. I just happened to always attract guys who were too simple for me and who believed strongly in the high value of remaining as simple as possible and changing me to become a lovely un-thinker.

lol, it's all well and good getting irrate when you think someone else is wrong and stupid, just remember there will be those days when you're fuming and ranting and it'll turn out that you're in the wrong :P

If everyone you date seems unbelievably ignorant, maybe the problem is you and not them.

My solution is to only date aspies who know about ASD. Hate that condescending laughing in the face when you voice an opinion and they don't make the trouble to understand your view

Laughter does not equal condescension. Sounds like you've got some issues to work out.

There's nothing wrong with an honest fool. We are all fools, to a greater or lesser extent, insofar as there are many things we do not know or understand.

Well, some just don't see the problem with other things. A person once asked me why I still work a job. He said "You could EASILY make $250,000/year!"! Sad to say, but he MIGHT be right. My procastination, unwillingness to even say a HALF truth, obsessive interests, etc... make it harder for me though.

And the idea of climbing a hill might have to do with strength and/or fear of heights. They are BOTH mitigated on a mountain though, and some may not see that.

slowmutant, don't you get tired of putting down everyone on the threads? It's gotten old already.

Why are you so keen to tell people that their legitimate bugbears are indication that they're the ones with the issues ?

Do you think it makes you look cool and worldly wise ?

Well I'm sorry to inform you bud, that it does nothing of the sort.

It makes you look like someone trying to look smug.
That's right - a smug-wannabe.

Sounds to me like you're extremely confused about life - in which case, you need to focus on putting your own camp in order.

Stop trying to be someone you're not.

That's true, unless, of course, the jobs are using a computer, climbing a mountain or digging a hole. Digging a hole job would be easiest to get but most people cannot do that all the time because they aren't in good enough shape. Mountain climbing? How many jobs involve mountain climbing? Since there are no mountains around here...none. Computer jobs are plentiful but soooo many people want them because all they do is sit on their butt all day data processing. The competition is fierce.

I think the quote should read:

"WTF Getting and holding a job and using a computer or climbing a mountain or digging holes are totally different."

My mistake. I cry your pardon.
