I'm a son of Mexican Mennonites who has grown up in Canada without learning how to speak his mother tongue, and I'm wondering if there are any Low German-speaking Aspies here?

My ancestors probably would have spoken some Low German dialect. Even in northern Germany, few people know Low German these days.

Here's an example of what the language looks and sounds like. I must admit that I didn't know whether it actually had a written form until I discovered websites like this one. It's fitting that it's the Bible, since religion is a major part of our culture.
