I have just experienced the new Wrong Planet format and it is so extraordinarily worse than the old format that I am abandoning the site. Everything is so stretched out that it is almost impossible to read submissions quickly and easily or to navigate the site easily. Thanks for the fun. It was nice while it lasted.

Sand,
I am glad you brought this to our notice as there are no other people having this problem. it has probably come to your attention that might point out that your settings may have changed rather than WP doing anything different.

I will be glad to let someone who knows how to help you get this glitch figured out.!

Merle

Could it be a browser issue?

Resizing your browser window should do it.

Thanks for the correction. I have no idea as to how to get my old format together. It takes an idiot not to complain when a site suddenly becomes so clumsy that it drives you nuts. What in hell has money got to do with it?

I think that's just sinsboldly's sigline, not a specific comment about you or anyone else on the thread.

I appreciate the advice from Orwell but I see no size adjustment anywhere in my Firefox browser. The format I am familiar with in the discussion area was a compact arrangement with threads on a blue background which permitted quick perusal of new additions which were highlighted. The format I see now is type on a white background and the page is so stretched I have to scroll to catch new items. It is definitely a different format and had to be designed. I am, unfortunately, whatever other capabilities I may have, not a computer nerd and the hidden gorgons in a system still are a threatening mystery. My contributions to the discussions are on the irascible side and I am no doubt rather annoying to a good number of people who would delight in getting rid of me. Nevertheless I try to be rational in my comments which are somewhat scathing over irrational attitudes and can be emotionally explosive when people take the dire direction our civilization is accelerating into with no regard to the consequences. If the present format as I now see it persists I cannot see participating any longer. I appreciate the time and the patience of my contacts so far and thank you all for your tolerance.

Sand,
You are most welcome to be here at WP. None of us are better than any of us here. I will ask Lau to help you with your FireFox browser. The format sounds HORRIBLE!

Please don't give up on us, Sand! We will get you help!

Merle

and money has nothing to do with it! We are glad to help!

I have just received a message from Mozilla that the Feedburner has some kind of error and is keeping its head down. Since I have no concept of what a feedburner might be or what perverse operations it might be performing with its head down there I am keeping my fly well zipped and am hoping for the best.

I try to be as rational as possible. I do not believe in ghosts, vampires, miracles, gods, or amorphous threatening goop that slides under my bed at night and reaches up with slimy hands to grab my feet. But I do have strange memories of things, at times, that nobody else remembers. Here in Helsinki, a few years back, I remember new model trams that were bright red. There are none of those around here today. Nobody else remembers them. And now this site format change. All my other sites are exactly the same so it must have something to do with this site. Since nobody else seems to have experienced a change I am very uneasy that my theory about multiple universes may have some validity. If there are multiple parallel universes it may be that, on rare occasions, individual consciousnesses may slip across to another universe that has a few minor differences from the one we are used to. Maybe the old format that I found so pleasant is in a different universe.
Pretty goddamned far fetched but what the hell. Unless I can find a way to restore the old format, maybe I'm in a different universe.

Just download and use a different browser. Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, are free.

Ah well, so much for parallel universes. I switched from Firefox to Opera and got back the old format. Thank you very much iamnotaparakeet. You have been a great help.
