Time

The seconds tick onward
The minutes creep by
The hours crawl along
The days merge into weeks
Everything drags
The more time passes
The more everything remains the same

What is society?

Society, the way of controlling people
A list of rules and regulations
That no one writes down
But everyone is expected to know
Hundreds of conforming sheep
Milling around the planet
Living day by day
No thought to the bigger picture
Content in ignorance
Worried about petty things
Intent on saving face
Worried about appearance
Desperate to fit in
Unaware that nothing matters
That their impact is miniscule
That in years to come
No one will remember them
No one will care
Devoted lives to earning money
Wasted devotion to meaningless ends
Money a concept derived by men
To make slavery seem acceptable
Everything is meaningless
In 100 years everyone will be dead
The struggle forgotten
Just marks on paper remain
So whats the point?

you can save it if you like.

I guess the point is if everything is ultimately pointless then why do I always have to put myself through so maybe anxiety inducing things in order to survive in a world where I dont agree with any of the social rules

hehe

So if nothing matters ... there's no such thing as good or evil, right?

The point? Generating viable offspring. All the rest is just window dressing.

BTW I like your poem.

This was something that hit home with me after the week that I had. We had a grandmother's funeral this week, a grandfather seriously ill in hospital, and a frog's funeral today. Bad week.

I love your poem, thanks for posting it!

The relevance is in the mind of the beholder though.
Things are only pointless if you make them so.
Just as there is only light at the end of the tunnel if you believe in the light in the first place.
(otherwise you won't know it when you see it)

Theres no such thing as good and evil just different moral standards that people act by.

Good and evil are a human concept.

What one group finds good another finds evil. Its a point of view that changes depending who you are.
