I've noticed that some of my posts have started to go "missing." I mean, where I will post something, see that is has gone through, and when I next go to check to see if anyone has replied, the post is gone.

why is this happening???

It's very rare for us to actually delete posts. That usually only happens when a large chunk of spam gets dumped.

There are always a smattering of troll threads. They get moved into the not-quite-black hole. If people have made replies on them, before we get to them, those replies will have gone along with them.

E.g. ShadesOfMe, you replied on the thread started by one troll, about 12.5 hours ago. That thread, in its entirety, (along with a duplicate thread by the same troll) went into the "grey" hole.

So when posts fall into the grey hole do they ever escape via Hawking radiation? There is a quantum theory that information is never lost that falls into a black hole. Perhaps you should warn us where the event horizon is so we can avoid posting too near to there.

If I'm not mistaken, I think ShadesOfMe was refering to what happened a few days ago, when there was a problem with the site, when you had to log out to be able to read threads. Wasn't around that time when she made this thread?

Actually, on that occasion, I did some tidying up. Not a single post was removed. I did consolidate about thirty separate threads into one, but all the posts all stayed on public view.

I think it was, yes, but that wasn't what I was talking about.

Well I had made some posts, and I noticed they would just disappear as if they never had been posted, when I'd made sure they had been posted.
