We were starting lunch at our favorite Chinese buffet today, and I needed something, but couldn't get the words out. So, I asked my wife, "Could you pass me one of those white things wrapped in green?"
She said, "What are you talking about?"
Our six year old, who we think also has Asperger's, immediately grabbed a packet of silverware (wrapped in the napkin with the green tape around it), and said, "Here it is, Daddy."
My wife said, "You need someone with Asperger's to translate for you!"

Aww, Thats a cute little story. But I'm not sure why she didn't get what it was, if thats the only thing with that description in the vicinity.

That just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :)

Good point: illustrates the contrast between our brains.
If I need to get at something simple, quickly, I need to make it more complex.
DW has to stop and think about just about any response, and gets confused by anything slightly complicated.

Not only did he describe the color of the thing, but he also described the color of the wrapper. To a child all they hear is white and green and quickly glance the table for something white wrapped in green.
