A question for all aspies: how do you vent? how do you let it out what's bothering you?

I'm successful in my field. I'm mostly happy. But from time to time there are things that bug me, and I find there is no one to discuss it with. Even my wife doesn't care much about Asperger's or people who have it.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night while all those piled-up things are churning in my head. They eventually fade away, after a few days.

But I'd love to find a way to let it out to someone... bounce my ideas with someone... one with whom I can vent.. someone to whom I can tell what is bothering me...

Yes, one could go to a counsellor once a week or so. But is there another option?

How do you do it?

I find that these forums are the best place for that, especially once you've been around one for awhile. There's so many people, once you start getting to know everyone a bit you should find some people who you connect well with, who can really relate to your particular variation of AS. I know what it's like not having anyone IRL who really understands and it makes a huge difference when do find someone you can talk/vent to.

the BEST place i find is in writing. Or talking to myself. I never respond with something which frustrates me. And the pages are always sympathetic to my thoughts. I only know of one person who knows how to listen to people and talk with them in such a way so as to comfort them perfectly. And they are trained in psychology, and they are pretty far up the genius scale.

In my diary- well, not exactly a diary, just a book I write in from time to time.

I have a livejournal and I vent there. If it's something really off-color, and I just have to say it, I have a separate private journal for that.

My mother is really the only person I vent to.

She does to me, as well. My sister just gets annoyed, and sometimes I b***h about people to work people. Apart from that I just do it here. :x

I have a few friends online I talk to. But mostly I talk to one particular friend who is studying psychology. His heads in that zone, so he's cool to talk to.

:D I'm with you there, GA - psych majors rock. One of my close friends is one... and he not only knows what he's talking about, but he's almost always up for the kind of "deep" conversation that deals with "issues". Actually it works out quite well, practicing playing therapist for each other. We both end up better off than when we started.

Yeah :: nods ::

My friend is also BiPolar, so he's sympathetic to alot of my issues, and he honestly wants to learn more about Autism.

And mine's depressive, and his family's got a whole laundry list of crap going on, so it's not like I'm the first. Just the first who knows how to do it back. :)

I'm the type to withdrawl inward.

But for me, motorcycling has been the best stress reliver.
Everything disappears when I'm on the bike. :D

Last night I came home, turned on CSPAN (The House Channel)
and screamed at the Republicans.
I guess if your conservative, screaming at the Democrats would work just as well.

It sure helped me vent some of my frustration.

At work, I try to stay busy helping other people.
I find that helping others helps me stay out of my own ego's storms.
