I see many of these threads, presumably due to people setting overwide bans.

What info to provide: Your nickname, IP, client, time, and the exact error message.

Posting 'irc sez I'm b& plz help' will get you nowhere, simply because it gives the op(s) who bother helping (bateau) nothing to investigate.

Posting 'irc sez I'm b& plz help' when you got yourself banned and just want to get out of it will get you nowhere because Bateau logs everything and can find out real quick if you're lying.

Posting nick and IP lets people check if it's an ancient/overwide ban, which may get fixed quickly.

Exact error and time will let people know if it's a channel ban or a server ban. We can't fix server bans.

Time can also help if the channel had been locked down for a while due to mass troll/spam/4chan raids. If that's the case it'll probably blow over and you can get in later.

If you can come up with some posts, covering aspects of the IRC, that would be great.

I don't use the chat at all, and have never really used IRC much.

If you look in the FAQ, to get a picture of what's been done in there, I'm quite happy to link anything you can come up with into its own section in there (and maybe modify the thread title to say "including IRC".
