I'm a pro-colonialist, so yeah, I hate the new names. Begaluru, Kolkata, Vishakapatanam, Tiruvandandhapuram... don't like the names at all.

Y'know what it's like even hearing a terrorist explosion? I live close to where the last attack here took place (last year), and it sent a cold shiver down my spine.

*EDIT* Just got the newspaper, apparently, they (the terrorists) drove around in a police vehicle...

Peace.

No I don't know what it sounds like, thank goodness. My thoughts will be with the victims and their families.

I'm an Indian-American and some of my relatives live near there. Luckily, they're safe and everybody in the area is in my thoughts and prayers.

That's ashame.

Any form of terrorism whether religious or not is just inexcusable.

Hope they eventually pull through over there.

Bombayites were expecting an attack. It's not really that shocking, just shocking that it was a direct assault instead of the usual hidden bombs. That's what my classmate (who has relatives in Bombay) told me. My cousin & his wife are in New York, good thing they weren't at Bombay, since they usually hang out at Leopolds (which was attacked).

All the craziest s**t happens at Leopolds. Gang wars, drug trades, and now terrorist attacks.

You see the saffron thread around this terrorist's hand? The picture was a lot clearer in the newspaper. That's a Raksha Dhaga, a thread tied around the hand by many Hindus after Puja (Idol veneration). My political science lecturer (who's a Hindu) pointed it out to me.

The hostages in the Taj hotel have been rescued, although there are still some hostages in Trident hotel and Nariman House.

Three of Maharashtra's (name of the state) top policemen have been killed:

ATS = Anti Terrorist Squad. Encounter specialists = Terrorists + gangs.

It's sad that Hemant Karkare was killed. He's the man who revealed that members of a Hindutva student's organisation related to the Bharatiya Janata Party (main opposition party) were behind many terrorist attacks.

Peace.

Well, it turns out now that around 120+ are dead and perhaps 900 injured as per recent estimates. The siege is still going on. Apparently, the terrorists are Pakistanis from the Punjab province (4/5th of Punjab is in Pakistan, only 1/5th is in India) and were pretending to be from my city, Hyderabad. One has been arrested.

After watching all videos on the tube, I'm convinced that they are elite trained commandos of the Pakistani army. It's been a decade since our last war with Pakistan, another might follow soon. :(

Peace.

that's irrelevant. it's not the religion that lies at the core of such destructive behaviours.
