Hello all...it's with much fear and concern that I'm writing this...not for my own life...but for my youngest brother, Dave.

I think he came a hair's width away from killing himself this afternoon.

Allow me to explain. Dave has a LOT of financial trouble right now...has been for a few years; still paying off Sally Mae, borrowing from his family constantly, and the biggest problem of all, CREDIT CARD DEBT! He cannot resist the temptation of waiting until he has money to get a cool new thing that interests him, so he keeps charging and charging, which as a consequence, leads to him being overdrawn all the time! (as well as getting applications for new cards in the mail, which is what happened this morning)

Anyways, things came to a head this morning right before noon. He discovered to his chagrin, that even before the new month begins, he's going to be 15 dollars in the hole, simply from credit card debt and paying back what he borrows from us! His first solution was simply not to pay off any of his c.c. bills at the moment, but dad said something that REALLY made Dave fly off his handle: "Well, jump on the bandwagon: your mother and I have been living like this for 38 years." Something about that statement made him fly into a rage...I didn't hear what his reaction to that was, but I know what made him go on a warpath of destruction in his room...Dad *laughed* at his response.

So you see..*I'm* not the only one who gets pissed off by my father. :P But getting back on topic...

My brother stormed upstairs to his room and slammed the door, which is what woke me up in the first place, as my room is right next to his. As he was...repeatedly stabbing the walls of his room with a freakin' MACHETE (yes, he OWNS one!) Mom was calling up to him about how he was gonna pay off that credit card bill, and he snapped back "Aw, who gives a s***?", which frightened me, because I thought that would bring the Wrath of Dad upon him. But no, Mom just scolded him for cursing, which brought more arguing, and when she went away...he broke the one thing I thought he'd NEVER break, because it's the world to him...

He.....he snapped his LAPTOP in half! Broke it right across his thigh!!

That laptop was his LIFE! He did all of his work, play and research on it! And only a WEEK ago, he finally started playing World of Warcraft, so I thought that would be enough incentive not to destroy it! But no...now he's gonna go even DEEPER in debt, looking to buy a replacement...

At least it was just his computer...it could've been someone's head. He's scary when he gets mad. :( But anyways, he's calmed down since then, and is sleeping heavily from his meds. *sighs* What I'm worried about though...is if he took too *much* meds, and won't wake up again. He has every RIGHT to be depressed...not only is he massively in debt...he has NO job, and he weighs like 365 lbs from lack of exercise and too much Dr. Pepper.

I'll be back with more as the story develops....pray for his sanity, please...

Emotional instability. Try zoloft.

I assume he's aspie. A loose cannon is dangerous and if he does kill someone in a berserker-esque rage, our kind will be labelled for it.

I myself sometimes go into smaller rages. A good idea might be to chop up all his credit cards and force him to pay everything off. Because if he has kids...what will happen then?

His irrational berserker behavior is not something to understand. You can't simply reason that because he destroyed something precious, he is next going to kill himself.

It does suggest that his behavior is irrational even when he is not mad. This is sort of why Gifted-Monster suggested the tactic of chopping up his credit cards. In the short-term, at most the behavior of an irrational person is something to be "controlled", not changed through reason. But that is not a long-term solution. The idea is that once he is financially stable, either he has changed, or he has not. For the later, he is allowed to move out and live his own life with his own mistakes.

Extreme methods of control like that, are all that you can really do. As for suicide, you cannot predict if or when that might occur.

Warn your family and get far, far away.

There's no sense in giving him the opportunity to take you down with him.

No, he's not Aspie...he's Schizo Affective, as well as bipolar and manic-depressive.
And if you ask me, he has every right to be...a fat, out of work slob...

Oh, and FICKLE like you wouldn't believe! On no less then TWENTY occasions, he's sworn to either cut back on the soda consumption, or completely stop altogether; "No more! Never again!"...but then he goes back to his old habits in a day or two. :P Now it's gotten to the point that I no longer believe him at all when he says he's gonna quit soda...it's just not gonna happen.

ROFL, hahaha. OMG, I wish we could rate posts, because that was short and great, lol.

My only complaint is that I did not think of such a comment first.

This is why I don't take things out on myself or my personal possessions.

But, honestly, I think we need to stand up for ourselves. Right now, I'm in the process of something big, something great: the downfall of my high school. I write for my college newspaper, and my writing is getting noticed by a local newspaper (I don't go to college far from where I live and went to high school), so it is time to basically bring the pain and start making people miserable and make the normal people suffer for their injustices.

Back quickly with an update on my brother...he's fine...

And this is the most incredible thing...his laptop...still WORKS!! True, the top is disconnected from the bottom, but somehow, it still works. Also, Dell bought his story about his 'accidentally' dropping it down the stairs, so they're gonna replace it with an identical model, no charge!

I must say though...a part of me feels a little unnerved...about how he stooped to lying to get a free replacement...but I'd have done the same in his position. I mean, who's willingly going to admit that they snapped their computer in half? I didn't think so. :P

Well clearly he needs a bigger machete. Or perhaps a battle axe maybe? That way, next time, he won't be able to explain himself out of that one, heh.

"Sir... We looked at your laptop, and I'm pretty sure we don't cover battle axe damage..."

Napalm's better.

"Hello. It seems my laptop overheated somehow and melted."
"Sir...this is damage from napalm. We don't cover that."
"Where would I get napalm?!"
"Don't ask me. You're the one that melted it"

XD

I'm happy your brother's computer issues are resolved. But obviously your brother is still at risk. He has given a very clear cry for help, but it seems no one is listening now that the moment of crisis has passed. That's not a good thing. The guy needs some help, probably from a professional, for anger and maybe suicide issues.
