embedding an image into signature

How can I have a small image in my signature? I would like to put this in it. I've tried both bb code and html code, but the code shows instead of the picture.

From the WrongPlanet rules:

People have tried asking for images in sigs before, and have always gotten turned down. People putting pictures in their sigs would drag down the servers and make WP much slower to load.

As an aside, I notice wrongplanet.net discussion is one of the few forums here not to have a sticky of the rules. This seems counterintuitive, as the first place I would generally look if I wanted to consult the rules would be this subforum.
