I tried to respond to a post and got the message that "You have been Banned" so I sent you an email and now it seems that I'm unbanned for no apparant reason so what gives? Did I do something wrong?

Who is this "you" you're referring to? Was this supposed to be a PM to a mod? If it wasn't supposed to be a PM, do you think maybe it should have been?

Maybe it was a glitch in the forum or one of the mods accidentally put in your name on the ban list and then took it off when they made the error?

I hope so. Hate to think I made some big mistake about the rules without realizing it.

Gary, don't worry about it. From what I've seen, people get some sort of warning before being banned, so if you'd made an inadvertent mistake, I think you would have heard about it by now.

BTW, from one oldie to another, I always enjoy your posts, even when I don't agree with them.

maybe the IP address could have changed and matched one that was in the ban list?

if someone had done it,it would show up in the logs.

Oh that's nothing! I tried to REGISTER for a forum the other day and was told that I had been banned! :) I was thinking, "WTF!?" So yeah, I never got to register on that particular forum. And to be honest, I don't even remember what forum it was so I guess it wasn't TOO important.

Garyvw, I sent you an email to your second account, asking you why you had two accounts. You never replied and another moderator banned your second (or first, we don't know, you never responded) account. You may have but one account on WrongPlanet.net.

I also gave you a link to each active moderator and how to get in touch with us, that always works if you have a question.

Merle

That usually means they've changed something in the Matrix. 8)

Did you just see a black cat walk past? And another that looked just like it?

I originally registered here somewhere in 2006 and made a couple posts and felt somewhat out of place so I just held back and stayed a lurker for a long time. Ond day I tried to respond to a post and got a message saying my 'name' was already taken so I re-registered and everything seemed okay. I have the same email addys and passwords for both user names.
I do try to use my real name. I only went with the ww since the system would let me do otherwise.
So here I am.
I don't mean to be abrasive and I appologize if I offend others so please give me a warning before you decide to make me banned.

you are far from being banned, Gary. Being mean and abrasive is something I know about being, too. Communication is always the issue with me, and sometimes I get what people are trying to tell me and sometimes I don't.

I wrote a PM to you on your original account "gary", I asked why you had two names, two accounts, you never answered, even though you were continually posting. I was trying to get your attention (see above) but being unsuccessful. Now I have your attention and I see the answer to my original question. Thank you.

If you are content with garyvw and your new join date, then you are in. If you want your old 'gary' back I will ask the mod that banned the account if they can restore it, but you will lose 'garyvw'. Answer back what you would like.

thanks!

If you were operating from a blocked subnet this could also be the case.

garyww is just fine and by the way my IP has always been the same for about 15 years since I own my own servers and uplink and it should show as http://64.172.168.34 as the gateway.
I very seldom check PM's so email for me is better so I'm sorry that I didn't reply sooner.
