CARES
Are any of your kids in this program? I heard nothing but good about it from one person on WP (and that's all I ever heard about it), and now I'm curious about people's experiences with it. I hear it's good. It's not torture like ABA and Son-Rise can be. I hear Floortime is good too because it doesn't go against the child's wishes. With CARES and Floortime, the kid isn't forced to do anything, right? They use diplomatic approaches involving only the child's interests to get the child naturally interested in other things. Or does CARES involve Floortime and Son-Rise involve ABA? I'm a bit ignorant. But I want to know because it's fascinating.
Unfortunately, kids with Aspergers HAVE to be FORCED to do things they don't want to do or they would never get dressed, eat, bathe, go to school, etc, etc.
If my gf's son had his way he would never leave his room. He'd would play his video game until he collapsed from exhaustion.

kramer, I'm getting really tired of your remarks. I think Ana has much more of a grip on what an Aspie would do than you ever would, seeing as she's an Aspie herself.
Ana - I haven't used CARES. I would be interested in seeing some plans for it. We've done a mix of floortime and ABA with my oldest, and floortime and a sensory diet with my youngest. So far, it works well.

Look at the DSM, and people here! What you said is WRONG! If I go out, I get dressed, and I can't stand being dirty. As for school, a LOT of people wouldn't go. As for eating, I DO, eventually. Everyone is NOT like anyone(except themselves). If you know one person diagnosed AS, you do NOT know everyone.

It's a broad generalization, but the main point still rings true. Without being forced to do so they would not want to be apart of normal society....they would not care. That's a fact. I'm sorry if you folks are in denial.
Also, I don't give a damn if you don't like what I have to say. How would anyone ever learn anything if everyone just agreed with each other? Give me a break. You mothers are dead wrong on a multitude of topics discussed here daily. I feel it is my duty to try and talk some COMMON sense into you guys. Don't like it? I could care less.
Kramer, why is it a necessity to be a part of NT (aka "normal") society? there has been a lot of talk about Aspie communes on here. Aspie communes should be an option. A lot of Aspies want it. It's our life, we only live once, and we should get to choose how we spend the little time we have.
I'm not opposed to that at all. I think that aspies should be put into the best position so that when they're old enough they can make the correct decision for themselves. If they're treated like babies....not made to learn the rules of normal society....not taught to be independent....then how can they possibly make that decision when the time comes?
Your above comment illustrates a major pet peave of mine, though. Why is it that most adult aspies feel that they have this sense of entitlement? A seemingly free pass to ignore standard operating procedures of normal society? You're no more special than I. You don't deserve any more special treatment then the next person. EVERYONE should feel obligated to lead their life "normally," though. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. That's why we have laws.....consequences.

GOOD, I don't care what YOU think! You are part of the problem. You believe that the APPEARANCE of any impropriety by a child should lead to them being beaten! Do you beat OTHER person's kids also? You want my opinion to change? Say something that disagrees with what I say that makes sense!
BTW as for the main point? If society ran like you wanted, ****YOU**** would probably get beaten even today. ALL in the name of "discipline"! Do it to another's kid though, and they might do it anyway!
Kramer, how is wanting to be in an Aspie commune a sense of entitlement? And yes, we have laws, but it isn't against the law to want an alternate society where people are more accepted for who they are and aren't forced to do ridiculous things to please people. If it was against the law something would be seriously wrong.*
While it is true that encouragement to do some "non-preferred" activities and tasks is a good thing, judging from your other posts you really are clueless about the most effective ways of teaching ASC children, and dare I suggest children in general. I'm surmising you are either:
1) attempting to parody the "dangerously abusive jerk stepfather/bf" stereotype, in the great internet troll tradition
2) or really is one
