Hi SteveBorg and welcome to the wrongplanet. I see that you are a therapist and have a family member with Asperger's. I think you will find the wrongplanet a positive experience for you. I am 44 years old (uhhh, my picture/avatar is a little out of date), and I have been a public school teacher for 21 years. I formerly taught English, but am now the gifted intervention specialist. I also am a quiz team coach. And, I have been diagnosed with Asperger's. There are several things I am immensely interested in---as you can see on my profile. But I have also been very interested in research on the autistic spectrum. I find it fascinating how people like me (the Aspies) think as opposed to the the "norm" (NTs). I don't view autism as a defect, but as a different way of thinking---however, autism can have its challenges in the NT world. And NTs would have challenges if they existed in a predominantly autistic world. So my big push is for tolerance and understanding.
I see you are also interested in the Bible. I have just begun a ministry. I am playing my hammered dulcimer for churches and using stories of hope and inspiration along with the music. At my home church I am the organist.
Please feel free to communicate with me if you like. I am not an expert on Asperger's/autism, but since I do have it, I like to offer what I can as far as help. I hope you enjoy this site and find it interesting and informative.
