Apparently, Maserati are releasing a new car, it appears to be a pretty strange one.

Not long ago Maserati talked about the Quattroporte GTS, a rival to the new breed of laughably expensive Supercar saloons.

The Aston Martin Rapide, to be released some time in late 2009

The Lamborghini Estoque

The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed

The Porsche Panamera(Or a streched 911)

Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

So then, here it is.

The only people who will buy these cars are rich buisnessman with kids, who have driven supercars before. Is there really much profit to be made out of this stuff, It's just getting silly now..

Anyways, hands up if you'd buy one..

A supercar saloon, sounds like an oxymoron to me
I'm no car buff, so I can't say whether it makes business sense to produce a car like that. But I like it, it looks pretty shweet. Certainly compared to the others. That Lambo looks horrific :eew:

I like the look of the Astern and the Lambo, the Bentley, Merc, Maserati etc. are old news, though, still cool but not as cool as the Astern and Lambo!

I think the first and the last look really beautiful. The others not so much to not at all. (my subj. op.)

When I was <17 y/o I was totally car obsessed. It's true. There were periods of time I really did nothing else. I still got a big map with all the drawings I made those days. Do you draw and design cars yourself, Gismo? It's quite a nice hobby. I think.

I wonder why there are not more car-threads here....seems a logical correlation. I mean, the technique, the mechanical, the design, the passion, etc. and AS.... but hey.

Hope you'll be able to drive one later on.

I'd buy one if I could for 2 reasons...

1) because it's made by a supercar manufacturer so theoretically is one
2) having the best of both worlds (rear seats AND speed) sounds fun :D

sadly I cannot buy one because I don't have a license or the money.. but see another thread about the license, heh

Sometimes yeah, I'm quite big when it comes to cars. The Aston is the best car on the list hands down, I belive that Maserati took the standard looks of a Ferrari California

Put a roof on, and threw in hints of the Mitsubishi Evo, and Subaru Impreza, with a few Maserati, and Jaguar XK touches, and there you have it..

It turns out not to be that bad looking, though I sometimes think that lot more could have been done in design terms. It was a bit lazy of them.

I forgot to mention that the Flying Spur is essentially a Volkswagen Phaeton, so therefor not a supercar saloon

Back in the 1980's when Chrysler owned a good portion of Maserati, Maserati sport tuned a Chrysler 'K' car added leather seats, and tuned the 4 cylinder engine, and added twin turbochargers to it. No matter that it had the Maserati logo on the hood, it was still a 'K' car.

Yes they should stick to supercars, because super cars are awesome and there should always be more to look at!

Hmm, It is a very strange thought to think that companies can actually make money out of those sorts of cars. It won't be long before Maserati go bust. The horror of going into administration looms over Maserati, they better make some quick money.

Yes. Super cars are the single greatest thing on the planet. But seriously, who could afford one of those. My family can hardly afford a 10 year old Oldsmobile.

In my humble opinion, Maserati has always been bringing up the rear.

Ferrari is first, and will never ever make a four door model.

Lambo is second, with good styling, but not as good as Ferrari

Then Maserati...

Obviously the people who can afford them are the people who can afford normal supercars.
