Negative image user names

Why do some people pick users names that run themselves down? Not naming any names but if people who have low self esteem give themselves negative names it just makes it worse - its like they are saying to the world "I'm a loser - kick me some more".

People just do things like because its fit their personalty instead of an insult most of the time.

A better question would be why do people pick the crazy nicknames they do ???

mine dont run me down its my friends nickname for me coz no one calls me by my full name which is alison they call me ali then cat coz i am apparently like a cat cuddly one minute and fierce the next :lol:

and 1989 is my year of birth :)

Mine was given to me by an extremely good friend of mine (my best, in fact), and it's stuck ever since. I kinda like it.

I selected my name because I have nine cats. I lost one of the original nine since I joined WP, but acquired a new one. C.C. has been with us now since Christmas 2007.

Mine came from when I used to play D&D. We were playing a team of superhero characters, and I came up with Kate Shroud. She was blind and had powers such as blindfighting, teleporting via shadow, and shaping darkness into solid objects.
