Or simply for fun, to show that they have a sense of humor and are able to laugh at themselves. :D

Exactly what I was about to say - self-deprecating humor.

Names in the news topic

Sue is my name, and Sartre is my game.

I have read some names that to me sound negative, but this is the choice of the user.

We are just not allowed to use offensive names. There is one user here who uses a "_ "as a name. S/he does not post much. :?

It's all down to whatever image people want to put across.

I happen to be red-haired (not naturally, I should add), and I was a grrl last time I checked. Pretty straightforward.

My screenname is also my RL nickname. That's why I use it.

I'm also with the self-depriciating humor comment. Though there might be some people with low enough self-esteem to even have a negative user name.

A what? What does the underscore mean? Is it a swear word you're blanking out? Or is the user name really just an underscore?

My main three user names

ebec11: ebec is a mixture of my initials and my favourite animal when I was eleven. I won't say what it is since I don't want to reveal my initials online. Then the 11 was my age at the time

lilyannalily: I've always wanted to name my child Lilyanna :D

soulfulgreeneyes: Perhaps this is based on Harry Potter and his emerald green eyes :D Heehee :D

I fell in love with the sound of the word "quail" when I was 11. :D I also managed to get my best friend to share my love for the word (and bird). Fun times.

music is the only stable thing in my life, as well as being one of my only 2 outlets, so it makes sence to me. :)

I don't know if my username is negative.....but I am:-)

I like Poe. Berenice would be more appropriate...I'm enduring the misery of orthodontics.

and the second part is welsh for zero....a rather dull in-joke about my parents name choice for me

Gloomy_Pluto...astrological planet is Pluto, and I'm generally a happy, yet morbid person, so my outlook is kinda gloomy. Also, if you had been a planet, and then got demoted, wouldn't you be gloomy too?

^Would I? Oh, on the contrary, I'd get even. There's a good reason they chose the term "dwarf planet"...
