A very possible reason is that I am significantly older although it has always been intensely visual.

I wonder if there's a trade-off between social and solitary learning styles?

Social learning always seems to be my "Achilles' Heel".
Good to great at most other styles- but, socialising, oh dear.

I guess this would explain all my nights in watching movies alone.

like others have mentioned spotting a pattern,it would also be interesting to know how different the patterns are between auties and aspies.
