Hi Everybody,

I'm a 40 year old diagnosed with AS when I was 37. Suddenly, my whole life made sense. Suddenly, I was able to get the help I always needed. Suddenly, I was able to make friends, through a local AS support group. I still have trouble making neurotypical friends, so I joined two writer's groups in the past two weeks, hoping I can try that.

There's an AS group here in Eugene, OR that meets 3x a month. I want to get active in the community here but I have to wait until Monday for a meeting.

I'm lonely. My BF has AS but he is very sick today and couldn't come to see me, like he usually does.

My AS traits I am working on now are: (1) acting like a "know-it-all" (2) beginning conversations inappropriately (3) blurting out whatever's in my head (4) severe anxiety around being in strange places (5) obsession with pc video games

I'm a writer and an artist. I'm writing a novel and I previously published a book when I was 26. I do charcoal drawing and I majored in art in college. I have two master's degrees but have never been able to keep a job for over a year and a half, and there are years gaps in between when my family has supported me.

I'm glad to be here. I hope I get support and learn some new skills and contribute some of the skills I've learned.

Hi whitetiger and welcome to the WrongPlanet. There are many of us here that are willing to support each other when we need it. I too am diagnosed with Asperger's. Like you, I enjoy writing. I am currently working on a novel and have a nonfiction book in the planning stages. Feel free to send me a message anytime.

Wow, so we have something really in common. I've been obsessed with them. I've done 6 charcoal drawings of them and I used to have a collection of 16 white tigers. I published a book under the "White Tiger Dream Press" label and I dream of white tigers.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
