Let's get retro --- back to the 1980's!

What's your favorite 1980's music?

I'm not really a big fan of 80s music, most of the 70s bands I liked decided to saturate their music with synthesizers and release bad albums in the 80s

I like the first couple of 80s albums from bands like Rush, Ozzy, Van Halen, Misfits, Ramones, Whitesnake, David Bowie...

Love just about everything Sabbath did in the 80s (though Seventh Star had its weak points), Pink Floyd/Roger Waters too, Peter Gabriel, SRV when the mood strikes me, and I like some of the blues/metal/thrash bands of the period who didn't delve too deeply into the "hair metal" genre, like Metallica, Megadeth, Badlands, Dio, etc...

I'm probably forgetting some people...

Edit: That's weird, I edited this right after I posted it, but I guess it didn't update...and now I don't remember who I added =/

I love the rock, rap and R&B songs of the 80's. Everything were so simplistic back then, and nobody had to create corny images or gimmicks to sell records. My favorite 80's song of all time would have to be "Don't Disturb This Groove" by The System, circa 1987. My mom used to play that song around me all the time when I was a year old, and one day I heard this song on one of those music channels on Comcast, and thought to myself, "I actually remember this song!".

I've always loved how beats sounded in the 80's. I'm a huge fan of synthesizers, it makes the songs sound futuristic for their time, although they are really outdated now. I also like how the beat sounds when the snares sounds hard hitting too.

There were many, but my main interests were Guns N' Roses, Metallica, and Megadeth. They were very much a part of my teenage life, and had a great influence on who I was at that time. 8)

It's hard to limit it to just the 80s, most of the bands I like were around in the 70s, but got big in the 80s.

Genesis
Rush
B52s
Jam

and there were a lot of '1-hit wonders' like Blanc Mange, etc.

Duran Duran (give me a break, I just liked them..;)
Cult
Cure
Smiths

I like a lot more bands in the 90s, tho...

Queen - Sail Away Sweet Sister
Shannon - Give Me Tonight
The Alan Parsons Project - Silence And I
Sting - Moon Over Bourbon Street
R.E.M. - It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight
Pet Shop Boys - Suburbia
Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero

I love Duran Duran too!

"Wild boys... never lose it, wild boys never chose this way... wild boys never close your eyes, wild boys always shine..."

They sounded good on radio but I love their music video more... And I'm more of a visual person so I'm always glad to see all the groundbreaking video by them. They're my favorites!

Besides Duran Duran, I also like Run DMC and NWA and Metallica and not to forget Sting (not the Police, though Every Breath You Take is nice, but the other two members are just 'vases'. Hey the Taylors and Rhodes and Le Bon are all so talented in my opinion) and GEORGE MICHAEL (not just Wham!, though the other guy did write the best Wham! song 'Careless Whispers'). Queen also rocks on, man!

And why nobody mentioned Michael Jackson? He just sold 500 thousand tickets... but I will never forget the moonwalk as well as the video with the white glove... Is it Billie Jean?

And yes, the Beach Boys' Kokomo is definitely a huge classic too.
