I'm being charged with assaulting a PO, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice. I did none of those things all I did was non violently disallow a cop from throwing me to the ground by keeping my footing.
If anything he assaulted me, and now he's covering his tracks.
I've spent over $2000.00 on a lawyer, but I have a nagging feeling I'm gonna be convicted of something. My unbiased witnesses have flaked on me...

Don't these cops realize they're screwing up people's lives? Or do they derive some sort of perverse satisfaction from it?

I have never heard of anyone getting out of those charges if their wasn't video evidence that they did not. Many cops get on a big power trip and don't realize they do not have to use brutal force on everyone.

Ohh..sounds nasty, dont think i have anything
useful to say, i have learned a few things the
hard way, one of them is that if a cop tells
you to get down, you get down wether you
like it or not. Because if you dont they will
get you down somehow. I had two cops in
plain clothes (they did not id themselfes in
any way that i heard) attack me in the
street many years ago, i thought it was just
some random punks attacking me so i gave
them hell. Big mistake, big big mistake. When
the dust settled and i heard one of them
scream "cops, we`re cops" it was a little
to late, i had allready broken a carwindow
with the head of one of the guys, and it
tunred out the car was a cop car, which made
everything worse, it actually belonged to the
guy whos head broke the window. And of course
i had to pay for it, frikkin morons.. :x had they
id`d themselfes i would have done nothing, it was
selfdefense for me, the second i heard "cop" i
stopped and let them arrest me. But try telling a
court that you beat up a cop in selfdefense, no
way will they listen, no way.

When it comes to cops, theres one rule to remember.
They`re just regular people, with a little extra
power, and that can be scary as hell 8O
They`re just like everybody else, they
screw up.

edit---
i forgot one thing, theres more to this story. After they
arrested me and got the cuffs on my back, they started
beating me up  hows that for fair. They beat me
there in the street, then they drove me to the station,
beat me in the parkinglot a while, then they locked me
up for 8 hours. 10 hours later i was out, blood everwhere
on my face, my clothes were torn and i had a bad
concusion. My left side was completly black and bruised
over the ribs for a week after. So i dont trust cops.
Never will. I was barely 20 years old, just a kid, and
those a**holes made the mistake, not me, but i ended
up paying for it. They want to arrest me, fine, arrest me.
But dont come running up on people and attack them in
the street like that.

edit---
it didnt start with them running up at me in the street,
i was in a car to begin with, when the car stopped they
ran towards my car and tried to drag me out - not
important anyway, it was just innacurate

If they did not properly identify themselves before coming at you, and beat you when you clearly stopped resisting, they're the ones at fault. You can file a complaint with the police department, and hope for the best. Just make sure you know the names and/or star numbers of the officers who attacked you.

Yes, i still claim it was their fault, but this happend
a long time ago, at the time when i got out i just
wanted to go home and never see them again.
I knew i should sue them or whatever but i just
wanted it to be over. So i got slapped with
resisting arrest, being violent towards a police
officer and had to pay fines and pay for broken
stuff and that was that, got some jailtime but not
the type you have to serve if you behave. Had it
happend now i would have them getting kicked out
of the police, i wouldn`t have given up but i did
back then, i just really wanted to get it over with
and try to forget it.

Anyway, its trailing off a little, back to the
original topic

The difference between me and a cop is too basic, and will never be resolved. We're talking basic, inborn difference. I can make excuses for a young person who accidentally goes into the profession for all the wrong reasons, but such a person should eventually realize that he made a mistake and get out of it. Anyone who can stay there, knowing what it's all about and actually feeling good about such a profession, is the lowest form of life. They are conformists, and nothing more. They have no concept of right and wrong, are oblivious to the idea that there can be an objective right or wrong. There is only conformity, and their job is to enforce it, no matter what it is. Burning down a village of unarmed cripples and children, just because some a**hole ordered it, makes perfect sense to them. They have no moral conflict with that at all.

Did you end up with a conviction?

It seems that a good number of people attracted to that job are power hungry pricks, not all of them though..

I hate cops, they scare the bejesus out of me. They were round our house last week cos my brother played truant from school cos apparently he reckons I did it (not true, I was off school for real reasons). The officer was a complete and utter a**hole, it's fairly obvious that their day consists of two activities: sitting on their ass eating doughnuts, and occasionally stepping outside the station to make kids cry for a a few hours, repeat.

And they let these people have GUNS. Remember that whole thing with the South American guy who got shot in London for no reason?! Disgraceful. "He was running away" is no excuse, I'd run away if I saw a cop, whether I were guilty or not!

/rant

Anyway, OP, your lawyer may be able to help, but unfortunately cops are rarely questioned by society, they get respect whether they deserve it or not.

that isnt fair at all, some people get let off so easy, and others are innocent but treated like criminals-
am have seen something at the opposite end to those experiences have had with dodgy police [instead of harsh punishment, being let off too easily].
am live in a residential home that has very varying levels of disabilities, the most high functioning resident here [and one of the most highest functioning people with mild learning difficulties am know of] was cuffed on her bed for a little time and let off with no arrest last year after beating and tearing a big tuft of hair out of the head of a very nice police lady who had come to unlock her out of her bedroom-she automatically got away with it because 'she was from the local residential home',which does not make everyone equal in severity, she shouldn't have got away with it.

Hope do not end up with a criminal record.

cops are people, and people are a**holes. cops will take liberties whenever the hell they want, and tv is promoting this idea to the "common man"

i hate when cop-crimes are minimalized and even glorified in cop-shows, such as the all-time classic cliché:

Civilian: "Hey, you cant come in here without a warrant!"
Cop: "How's this for warrant" *groinkick*

^^^ promoted attitude, "common man" accepts this.
