So I hit 19, and my dad took me out to get me drunk at the local pub (he was going to take me to the local strip club, thankfully someone, and not sure who to thank, talked him out of that)...

Anyways, I found that while I was drunk (it took me a rather large amount to get there for having never drank before), I could converse like an NT. It felt weird, but good. Now, I will say that getting drunk to socialize is a really bad idea, and it will not work for everyone. Don't get yourself drunk, its not worth it.

Anyways, what are some of your experiences regarding alcohol?

I've noticed that its easier to socialise with alcahol, which is why my mother went through a phase of trying to get me to drink some at every social event

However, I've also noticed I still don't enjoy socialising, its just easier to do. I'm just of the mind set that there is not purpose for alcahol. It tastes horrible - I can only drink alcopops without gagging. People say you get used to the taste, but thats just really illogical. Its bad for you, it tastes bad, why would you make the effort to try it enough times for it to taste alright?

Saying that, I'm not against on very special occassions to improve relations with peers going to a social gathering with some alcopop. But I'm talking once every few years kind of thing, and even then I doubt I'd be bothered to.

My skills don't improve with the consumption of alcohol - if only because it makes some of my other symptoms worse.

The only time I ever got drunk is at age 11, then my parents let me have half a glass of cheap white wine with our dinner. I remember staggering about the house with blurred vision. (Thankfully no hangover!) Suffice to say, they didn't let me have wine again.

As an adult I've often had a beer or glass of wine, and I've been fine. My fondest alcohol-related memory is drinking some Jolly Roger microbrew at a pizzeria in Seattle last December. That stuff was in a league of its own: like trying beer for the first time again! The taste was enjoyable enough for me to drink myself into a coma (despite American beers having less alcohol than their Australian counterparts!), but I stuck to having just one glass.

when I'm drunk it does feel good.. you let go of inhibitions (not to the extent of stripping or anything like that!!) but like you said, I also can converse like an NT. I can talk better with friends... it's good.

But binge drinking isn't good obviously.. and to be honest, I don't like drinking. But It certainly makes me more confident.
What I don't like is being around drunk people... I hate it... that causes a lot of anxiety for me.

It's funny watching Americans drink beer in Canada just because our beer is also a stronger brew.

I like being around tipsy people but I don't like being drunk. I like the taste of champaign (can't spell it) but only the one flute. I just really don't like being drunk. Though most of my family can't/won't understand that and are reallllly verrrrry very pushy about me having a drink.

Once at a party (I was about 14) and everybody kept on saying about buying me a drink. I kept on saying to everyone to stop offering to buy me alcohol again and again, "I DON'T WANT ANY" didn't work. In the end I had to go to my cousin to get protection from the rest of my family, he was the only one who listened to what I wanted. I'm furious again even writing this. My Mum and cousins are ok with me not drinking now and that's it.

I do like being around tipsy people though (when they don't know I'm not drinking) because they seem more excepting and nicer. I hate being presured or forced though.

Has anyone had my experience?

I agree whole heartredly with everything you have said. In my drunken state though, and I could still reason well in that state, I told my sister something trying to be slightly offensive enough to have her report it to her mom (I hate that woman for all the pain she has caused my family, but my sister loves her deeply for some twisted reason), and she told me "you're drunk, I know you don't mean it" I may not remember my exact words, but oh how she was wrong, I meant every word. I also didn't say it because of drunken reasoning, but because she could blame it on that and I wouldn't get in crap for it later.

When I’m sober, people usually have to struggle to get three words out of me. When I’m drunk, I have the opposite problem, people cant get me to shut up. People are usually shocked when they see me drunk for the first time because they can’t believe how different I am after I drink. lol

I probably should have mentionened that my senses were more augmented than they normally were, I could see perfectly fine (well, my sight didn't change while drunk), sound didnt bother me as much, but my coordination sucked even more than typical aspie clumsiness... I also felt really weird.

I can say this: Many of my inhibitions dissapeared over time when i went out drinking/to clubs when i was younger, i learned to look at girls without looking away/into the ground when they look back, i dared to go onto the dancefloor - eventually even without being drunk. I have never manage to get a one night stand - it is still a mystery to me... its like trying to figure out quantum mechanics to me; i have a basic understanding of it, but no clue how/what to work with.

At least i think it is fun to be drunk, but i prefer to be home and play FSX/Test Drive Unlimited to see how well i can fly/drive while intoxicated :D

Nowdays i rarely go out (1-2 times a year), mostly with a friend that drag me out when we meet.

19 ain't legal, here. Not that that stops anyone.

Alcohol worked well for me when I still could get drunk.

I'm more sociable but also more ridiculous, like playing with things on the table like toys or singing odd song lyrics.
