Is it strange that when you read about famous Aspies many have a bizarre unclear sexual history like Lewis Carroll, Thomas Jefferson, Albert Einstein, Hans Christian Andersen, Woody Allen, Alan Turing etc

I think what people forget, is that is only VERY recently that people have become so open about their sexuality. I've seen a big change just in my lifetime, and I was born in 1967. Most of the people you listed come from a time when sexuality was considered the most private thing of all, and it would be unthinkable and scandalous for people to discuss it.

Woody Allen has aspergers? Thomas Jefferson? Where did you learn this?

he meant they assburgers. people with as on this forum will never be like the folks you mentioned. this is bs. yes, let's celebrate being delayed in social skills and tom and let's pretend thomas jefferson was as socially inept as most of us.

No.

I'm not sure what's bizarre about some of these people's sexual histories. (OK, having sex with slaves like Jefferson would be bizarre these days, since, you know, slavery's been abolished and such.)

And unclear? Well, lots of people have unclear sexual histories. It's not like it's something people have tended to widely broadcast.

Besides which, I think it is ridiculous to assume that all these people were/are on the spectrum to begin with.

I don't know what "bizarre unclear sexual history" any of those had, but there are only TWO there I might dare to say had AS. I don't know enough about the others, and didn't hear any SERIOUS suggestion. In any event, a lot of "normal" people had a VERY "bizarre unclear sexual history", so you might as well observe that they all ate CARROTS at some point!

That's not unusual at all. Because people with autism are so socially impaired, they usually either don't want or can find a sexual relationship of any kind. When your social skills are so severe, it's easy to just be asexual. You don't have to interact with others and you can live your own life the way you want without having someone with you who could be a burden. I could fully understand why people like Einstein had a very unknown(if any) sexual life because they spent their lives on what they thought was important like their special talents.

I don't know about Woody Allen, but it's been suggested for quite some time that Jefferson had Asperger's. The best book on this subject is called Diagnosing Jefferson by Norm Ledgin. Ioan James and Tony Attwood seem to agree with Mr. Ledgin's conclusion.

Being a bit of an amateur Jefferson scholar, and having read many biographies of the man, I question the original poster's assertion that Jefferson had a "bizarre" sexual history. I have not come across a single fact suggesting that this is the case.
