On Wednesday 26th May 2009 Mason MacPhail went missing after attending a concert in Toronto. He left the concert at approx 8.30pm and hasn't been heard from since.
If anyone is in the Toronto area and wants to help put up posters or wants to help search for him, please head down to Polson Pier and go to the Field Area Command Unit to find out how to help.

This is terrible. Two missing kids, within a 4h drive of each other, in less than 3 days...

UPDATE:

They believe they have found his body in the harbourfront.

Very sad and our thoughts are with his family today.

We drove around there yesterday on our way back into town and the police were all over the place.

It was unfortunately Mason Macphail's body that was found.

Apparently there was an altercation that happened inside the all ages club and he was escorted out by security guards.

Somebody else pointed out to me that as he was under the age of 18 so why was he sent out on his own.

The song by Jeff Buckley "So Real" has been playing in my head today.

It doesn't help that it has been raining here for the last few days.

Again our thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight.

Yes that is awful news for his family to have to deal with. It'll be worse for them if there was foul play involved like it sounds.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am a long time member now of the Wrong Planet community and did not think to post here because most of the members here are out of Ontario.

Mason MacPhail is my baby brother. We are all very shattered. What an absolute nightmare this has been.

MacPhail, Mason David Connor - The family of Mason sadly announces the tragic passing on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in Toronto at the age of 16. Beloved son of Lori and Carl Simmons. Loving brother of Dustin MacPhail, Cory, Travis, Melissa and Ashley. Uncle of Jeneah, Sophie, Aiden, Rhiannon and Emma. Sadly missed and loved by Jodie McGregor. Also missed by his family and friends.

Friends and relatives will be received at Calvary Pentecostal Church (1421 Lansdowne St. W., Peterborough) on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Church. Cremation to follow at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.

Whilst there is an ongoing investigation, the cause of death was drowning. The last bit of outdoor video footage showed him at 8:17pm across the road in a parking lot. The video surveillance equipment did not extend any further than they had last seen Mason. His cellphone was reported "dead" by the telephone company just 13 minutes later. He was found in Lake Ontario Thursday morning.

There is a facebook group that I created when I launched to search for my brother, but it has since become a place for those to mourn the loss of the most amazing teenager ever.

You would all be so incredibly proud to see what this boy had achieved socially. He was loved and truly enjoyed by many. He did not disclose his diagnosis to anyone, but a few close family members. People are very shocked and some still in denial about his ASD, but it too shall pass.

Please feel free to join us whilst we celebrate Mason's life and achievements.

I love him so much and am aching so badly that he cannot be here to see how much people truly loved him. This is a guy who truly felt like he had very little in the way of friendship, but is a legend in his own right.

Thank you for posting here.

Words escape me to be honest.

Really can't think of anything I just keep deleting what I write.

Take care and write back when you need to.

There was a case in the UK recently, where a man was ejected from a club by bouncers. Except it was the back and he had no safe way of leaving. He fell from trying to climb over a wall/fence, the club also may have been closed by then. The club was found responsible for failing to ensure his safety. However I don't know enough about his case to know if they fail to ensure his safety, when they were actually responsible for it. I also don't know about Canadian laws. The law in the case I mention was related to health and safety laws, I think.
