I'm thinking of setting up a new account on here for reasons I don't want to explain/discuss. I know you can't delete accounts so I figured if I just set up a new one, the old one would just fade into forum history? I'm thinking I'll use the same avatar for a while so those I'm more familiar with ca... |

Thanks to all who offered advice. Like I said, I know I tend to overthink things but that's just part of the way I am, so regardless, I still needed to think it through to some kind of conclusion. |

Wow, can you say "overthinking"? Is this to me? I know I can't help but overthink most things to be honest. ---------------------------------- I know there are plenty of idiots on the road (just minutes later I saw someone speeding, weaving in and our of cars along a dual carriageway :-/)... |

Interesting. I think for me, I've 'over-thought'/over-analysed almost everything I do, I might have difficulties processing everything at the time but in time, the comprehensive review of everything means I can be very insightful indeed. |

Well like I said, in normal circumstances and when I'm in a good, clear state of mind, I'm fine but there are obviously times when I'm not :-/. I actually got one of those Autism Alert cards from the NAS just recently which is in my wallet. Luckily nodding and trying to say yes at the right places s... |

Earlier today I had to ride my scooter down to the university library (4 miles across town). I just had a moment where it just got too much; ridiculously busy traffic, sirens.... and I made a stupid decision to pull out of a junction when I shouldn't have and of course, a police car wasn't too far a... |

I think since I began learning more about AS about a year ago and especially since my diagnosis about a month ago, I've tried to be more relaxed about stimming in front of people/in public. Of course to a certain degree I still try to keep it more discreet in public/at uni etc. but the way I look at... |

I've read in quite a few places that aspie's often insight. However, I myself can be very insightful, I think largely because I spend so much time 'in my head', processing and analysing everything.
What are your thoughts?
[edit: sorry meant I've read aspie's often lack insight.] |

I've just completed my first term at university studying occupational therapy. It's been tough in a lot of ways but like I said, I've somehow made it through my first term. We've yet to have any real assessments, though we have our first exam and essay deadline right after we go back in January, sho... |

At times the sadness or fear is so intense that I get meltdowns or shutdowns because of them, depending on the situation. Then I can count the seconds until the depression kicks in and I want to give up absolutely everything, stop trying and caring. Over the years, I have unfortunately not been abl... |

I get your point that similar situations may occur in the future. It's not just that it's uncomfortable, it's incredibly stressful and taxing. There was a debate in my usual class some weeks back. I just made sure that I contributed as much as I could to the research prior to the debate and did my b... |

So in a lecture today, we were put into our groups of 4/5 and each group given an issue to research for Thursday. Then on Thursday one half of our group has to argue for and the other against the issue. This immediately sent my anxiety straight up and I was considering if I could get away with just ... |

Everything has just gotten too much. Uni, overloaded and overwhelmed by the holiday season especially with Christmas and New Years' looming, exam and deadlines in the first couple of weeks on the new year and my first placement starting the end of January. Also, my dad informed us over the weekend t... |
