I have aphantasia, and see no mental images. I was unaware of it until fairly recently, and for many decades I just assumed people were wildly exaggerating when they said they could see things in their mind's eye. In my case, at least, I never felt I was missing out on anything, and I suppose I jus...

One of my very best friends has that. He is also Autistic. He cannot visualize at all. Not even a tiny bit. Once he is done looking in the mirror, he cannot even remember what he looks like. He also cannot remember what his children look like. He simply cannot make mental visualizations. But that h...

So I watched that video on Asperger ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGh7gOte0aQ ). It kept emphasizing that those kids are really talented. At 1:40 it says that, as adults, they no longer show the signs of mental illness but, instead, they show the signs of geniuses. And then it goes on to talk a...

This was my private journal full of "daddy fiction" I'd write this I'd wish for. I mentioned so many autistic things I noticed like his eyes being intense I had to look away plus other stuff. At this time, Mom and I looked into diagnostic possibilities, but eventually, she sort of said fo...

If you mean in a normal fashion, I can do ok. If in a legal situation, I try to stay away from that if I can. I think it was abraham Lincoln that said something, about such people, that I won't repeat because it might be taken as offensive here. 8( Well, I checked, and the site is ANOTHER person giv...

Well, emotionally, I am similar. I do get along well with most people, but really haven't tried to go that far. And, IN SPITE OF BIDEN, I am managing to keep my head above water. I am in STEM also. Stem is a VERY overly broad label, especially while the new PC variant is supposed to be STEAM! But ok...

Among some people, Mayflower descent, or descent from people who fought on the American side in the Revolutionary War, do indeed confer a certain status. Others don't care about it, or at most they think "Well, isn't that special, " in the tone of voice of Dana Carvey's church lady from S...

Goldenhawk, I wish I could really help here. Ironically, I have been recently looking for a similar solution. I have found a few, but they are only barely good enough for me. The US USED to have over the counter pills that would knock me out in a flash and today the regular "sleep aids" ar...

Chris, Forget the "100" year rule. I was born not long after a REAL vaccine was created for a HORRIBLE disease! The disease attacked EVERY nerve in the nervous system, except for maybe those actually in the head! SOME unlucky people saw the FULL effects of the disease, and managed to be &q...

Admittedly, I didn't read your whole statement. I just came to check to see what was going on here. But I think I got the gist of it. I actually agree with you in spirit. Sadly, it conflicts with what human interactions have become, and places like the US. Someone with Autism should make it clear th...

Hey everyone. So, a significant part of my daughter's diagnosis is aphantasia, the impairment of the ability to form visual images. According to the diagnosing psychiatrist, this impairs her ability to make decisions and to feel motivation for the future. Honestly, this explains a lot about her beh...

There are some black people here. Most don’t inform us of this....because they post more as autistic people than as black people. Yeah, the one I was talking about mentioned it when she related a problem with her relationship with her mother, because it revolved around that. I had watched her posts...

In light of british actress stephanie davies coming out as hfa at a late age. Just wondered is there a link between severity and age of diagnosis? I mean if you can go up to your 40's without anyone mentioning autism then surely the symptoms must be mild in comparison to a 2-3 year old that is susp...

WOW, I didn't get any responses. Well, I wondered if my father had aphantasia. I decided to ask him some questions without giving anything away. He doesn't have aphantasia. I wish I thought to ask my mother about this before she died. I wonder if she did. My father did so well in so many respects, t...

Leon,

YEP, a LOT of people are like that. DON'T tell them you are a virgin though. They will NOT see it as a good thing. OH, and Northern california, ESPECIALLY around places like San francisco, has people that will REALLY treat you badly.
