I have both autism and bpd! My main autistic traits are sensory sensitivities (all noises are equally loud to me, certain frequencies make me burst into tears, I have an unusually strong sense of taste/smell, if one side of my body is touched I have to touch the other), poor proprioception (walking ...

When I have stressful bad thoughts, I find some relief in thinking it through "scientifically" (or, well, more accurately, pseudoscientifically, since a lot of the thoughts I use to calm myself down are stuff I picked up and half-remember or are "just so" stories, but the objecti...

What are your favorite stims that involve other people? I used to do these all the time in high school, and now as an adult it is a mark of true friendship when I start stimming with a person. My favorite partner stims are: ⋅ Playing with their fingers and hands ⋅ Shaking their h...

Thanks for responses- I'd heard ASMR is more common in autistic people, which is part of why I asked here. I will look into auditory synesthesia- I assumed it was ASMR because certain other things trigger a similar but milder sensation that is pleasant, and the description of ASMR sounded very simil...

I hate the sensation of ASMR which is triggered by those videos. It's like getting tickled directly on my spine nerves and it's WAY too intense.

My brother started doing that when he was 18 or so, now he's 20. He doesn't do it so much, but that's mostly because he's moved away.

Do any other autistics hate ASMR? I'm autistic, and those sorts of sounds give me the heebie jeebies! My brother used to torture me by tricking me into putting on headphones (with the pretext of showing me a cool song or something) then playing an ASMR video while holding my arms so I couldn't take ...

I make a lot of sounds, but I don't really consider them stims because to me stims are things that give me an endorphin rush, which I don't get from most of them? The exception is counting/chanting "one-two-three-four, two-two-three-four, three-two-three-four, etc..." or "one-two-thre...

Mostly, I believe in God. I do struggle with belief sometimes, because do to my autism and a seizure disorder, I am frequently not in control of my body and have had to confront on a daily basis the fact that I'm a mechanistic being of electrons and chemicals and any agency I have in my life is at b...

When I was diagnosed with autism, I was also diagnosed with OCD (although I do not feel like that diagnosis fits me 100%). Nevertheless, I do have compulsive behaviors and intrusive and obsessive thoughts. However, I also have the tendency to "pick up" compulsions from those around me, or ...

I have an aunt and uncle who I love. They are good family members and I love them. But their gifts are cheap crap and they get me the same cheap crap every year and I hate it and I hate having to insincerely thank them for junk I will never use and hate. Like for when I graduated college, they gave ...

I have been applying for jobs, and I have applied to several autism centers in my city- generally the title of the position is something like "behavioral therapist." I struggled a lot a child, and I would like to be able to help younger kids so they don't have to struggle as much as I did....

My favorite character is Scott Summers! I fell in love with him back when I first saw X-1 when I was 9- I am Scott, Scott is me. I think the thing that really appeals to me is the central metaphor of the character? Like Wolverine and Beast are Man vs Animal, and Storm is Man vs God, but Cyclops is a...

Scott Summers-X-Men Danny Saunders-The Chosen (I am CONVINCED this is canon and they just didn't say it cause it's set in the 40s) Illya Kuryakin-The Man from UNCLE (More of a TV Show than a movie, but eh, plus they're making a reboot of it next year! :D) Steve Rogers-Avengers (OK, this is weird but...

I love the X-Men movies! My fave of the original 3 was X-2, I LOVED everything about First Class except the last ten minutes OH MY GOD. I despise the last ten minutes of First Class, so much so I left the theater thinking it was worse than Wolverine Origins until I had time to think about and rememb...

No, you are not the only one who found it a "bit" racist! I found it that way as well, and many others did too! I think the general consensus is they tried to do a clever flip on how the original stories were a bit racist and just belly flopped into actual slight racism rather than flippin...
