I'm looking for a little advice. A few months ago I had a mental health assessment after many years of struggling and I was told that I show many signs of having Aspergers (which I already suspected). I was then told, in order to get an official diagnosis I would have to be put on a three year wait...

Mine are,

- picking skin around my nails
- biting nails
- rolling my eyes
- twitching my nose
- touching my nose/face
- pulling out facial hair
- finger movements

There's more but can't think of them at the moment. These are the main ones.

I tend to be quite good with what little money I have. This is due to decision making issues that I struggle with. When buying something it can take me days even weeks to weigh up all possible pros and cons of the purchase, and by that time I don't always want the item anymore.

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Is anxiety and depression your biggest problem with ASD?

I suppose depression is my biggest problem. But this is generally caused by my inability to have a social life. Anxiety can be an issue at times but as long as I take care with the things that make me anxious then I can control it.

In my opinion, no one knows their body and mind better than themselves so I'd say most who self diagnose will be correct. I self diagnosed myself with AS after 2 years of researching and I am currently in the process of trying to get an official diagnosis (which takes a very long time/and is very di...

For me certain noises can cause anxiety or just really irritate me. But I'm quite lucky that I'm not very sensitive (exception of certain lighting/flashing lights)

I tend to just avoid/remove myself from the noise if possible. Certain noises tend to make me anxious rather than hurt me. Sudden noises like motorbikes, fireworks or planes (especially when I was younger). My biggest issue with noise comes from changes in the pattern of the sound. For example my Sky...

Can't speak for others but I get extremely frustrated and restless, which usually leads to depression. Is there a reason why your mother is stopping you from writing? Seems quite a harmless obsession to me.

Main one is Video Games. But over the years I've had many such as guitar, weather, golf, flags, fantasy worlds, Pokemon etc. I seem to be becoming interested in Viking history/mythology at the moment but whether this will become a full blown obsession I'm not sure.

The UK services are a disgrace to be honest. I've been told that it will be 2-3 years before I'd even see anyone qualified in ASD treatment. I'd say your best bet is to find a local group that may offer some help.
