The benefit of the platitude is that it lets people get on with their day. Honestly answering "how are you?" every time to every person would take ages, giving a platitude like "keep going" preempts a long discussion on what you could/should be doing differently/better to succeed...

If you want an honest opinion, ask a family member or very close friend. Otherwise, assume you're getting a platitude, because it's what social convention dictates. (You can hate it, but it isn't likely to change anytime soon).

Even with he highest teen pregnancy rate in the US, there are surely some youngish women without kids. Date them if you're up for handling other people's kids.
