It sounds like you found the perfect INTP job. How would you say your medication affects your capacity to do your job? Yes it is a pretty good match for my skills. The medication seems to help me with my job as well as life generally - without it I tend to lose the ability to think logically and al...

Will not leave a bathroom stall until there's no one else in the bathroom. I get made fun of for taking so long in public bathrooms but there's always someone there and I just can't seem to leave with them there. :? I'm with you on this one. I *can*, but prefer not to. I don't like meeting anyone i...

May I know what you do professionally? Sure, nowadays I work in product management in a telecoms company (satellite based) and I'm doing process engineering / analysis at the moment. The thread running through my career is analysis, algorithms, methods, creativity, plus not being able to bare techn...

I’m taking a very low dose of Citalopram to help with EF deficits around memory and focus - seems to be working.

This is reassuring; I’m INTP/J and was worried that the N was at odds with my self diagnosis because it signifies intuitive big-picture thinking which is opposite to the “weak central coherence” aspect of ASD.
But it seems I’m in good company here. Am I misinterpreting “weak central coherence”? |

Do you mean that your special interests "pick" you rather than the other way round? I spent 9 months or more totally obsessed with learning about autism after the penny dropped that I have it, and I blogged so much about it. Then, almost as suddenly, I tired of talking about it and deleted...

Well, I joined a couple of weeks ago and had already chosen my username before coming across the sticky posts and discussions recommending anonymity and also noting that deleting your account is impossible. I’m trying to work out how much I care personally & can see that some people use their na...

Ha - reminds me of the number of times I've rehearsed my order at a fish and chip shop and internally it sounds like "Fwish and chwips" and I'm worried it will come out like that :-). And washing machine reminds me of how the noise that the was cylce makes sounds like "Help me/Help me...

OMG KingExplosionMurder I wonder if we’ve discovered something????
What you describe is exactly what I mean.
Also, when I try to get the inner voice to “talk properly” it resists and exaggerates the oddness..... |

Here’s an odd one, and I’m wondering if it has anything to do with autism or not. Sometimes I notice my inner voice (the one that is effectively me talking to myself but not out loud) has an odd feature. It pronounces words almost phonetically, so for instance “it’s time to go to sleep” sounds like ...

Thanks for all of your replies! It’s good to know I’m not alone, and I agree it’s a really important topic. I understand that a significant number of people only find out they have ASD following a burnout. This was certainly the case for me and I had been through it several times putting it down to ...

I guess it depends on the circumstances, reasons, length of time elapsed etc. One of my daughters stopped talking to me 5 years ago, I've never really fully understood why despite talking it through with her at the time. At the time I was perplexed, sad, angry, and relieved (of the expectations of f...

Not at the moment but I can relate - in fact one of the big things that helps me to remain sure that I am autistic is how blessed the relief is when I use eaebuds and music to drown out the social babble when I’m in such situations. Tough Diamond - I relate so much to what you say about pointless ri...
