I think that you are being percieved as non caring if you don't know how to show that you care, and I think that this is what most autistics struggle with. As you have seen on the site, people care. For me, trying to comfort someone is very difficult, I always feel that I'm saying the wrong thing, a...

I also laugh at inappropriate times. Sad and dramatic scenes in movies/tv can be really funny to me. First of all, I already know that they are actors and the scene is fake so it's not really happening. It can also be quite bad acting (over-acting) which makes it funny. I can also begin to laugh whe...

Hi Mike Like Persephone, I also see some ocd type stuff in what you describe. I was wondering what happens to you/how you feel if you flip the switch/close the door, and the "wrong" image comes into your mind and you just let it be there/ignore it? Is that possible at all or do you get cau...

Hi I have both BPD and Aspergers, so one doesn't rule out the other. I was diagnosed with depression first, then aspergers and a few years later BPD as well. There are a lot of similarities between those two diagnoses, and since both can differ in symptoms between different people that makes it very...

Is it even possible since you already have a dog? If your doctor "prescribed" an ESA, would that make your dog an ESA?
And since your landlord has a one pet rule, if you got an ESA, would you be allowed to keep the one that isn't? Or would both have to be ESA?

Thank you Teach51. You are a great friend. Something you said... I do have a concern. What if when I am diagnosed I am found not to be on the spectrum? Why the concern? Well. I am understanding myself far more then I ever have in my past as in the past I habe been drifting along without knowing who...

I have a pet dog who helps me tremendously with my anxiety issues, without him I would have a really tough time going outside my house at all and he also helps me when I have anxiety when I'm at home. Don't know how much of the anxiety is related to the ASD, don't know how to define what's what. In ...

Hi I can relate, I also have difficulties dealing with my emotions. For me, DBT therapy has helped a lot (the group part was hell and I didn't finish those sessions but I still have my one on one therapist so it works). There are four modules in DBT and one of them is emotion regulation. I find DBT ...

Hi BrokenPieces (It might be the thread I started that you mentioned in your first post, I don't know.) I just wanted to say that I did try ECT because everybody kept telling me how well it worked, so I gave it a shot. It did nothing good for me, my depression was the same during and after, but I'm ...

Thank you so much for your replies! jimmy m, I'll look into that book. magz, what you describe is very much what I've experienced earlier in my life. I've had a great deal of luck regarding therapists, and these past three years they've helped me label what emotion I'm feeling and basic understandin...

Hi! I'm new here and this is my first post. If someone has any advice I would be very thankful. I'm 32 years old and have had depressive symptoms and a lot of anxiety since I started school. I sought help maybe six years ago. First I was diagnosed with depression but my therapist believed there was ...
