Oh no, I love a schedule. I can manage if things change, but I do find it stressful. If I go to my parents' house, I am most happy when everyone is in the right 'place' in the evenings.

When I practise drawing frequently, I can do quite well. Currently, I only draw now and then, and it's usually pretty awful.

I must have led a really sheltered life, as I've never been in a fight or been mugged, or even had a heated argument with a stranger. I honestly don't know how I'd react in these situations, but I'd probably be frightened.

You may just need the right teaching situation. Jobs often have the exact same title, description, and responsibilities but differ greatly in the stress they create to people on the spectrum. Civil service jobs rarely have the stresses of startup companies. Where I went to school the private sector...

What was the job advert about? You’re right. I should read the post in question, of course. What is it that you teach? And which age group? The job advert said that they were seeking neurodiverse applicants to work in their cyber security company. They said you didn't need a degree, that all traini...

The only adults/adolescents I've met with autism who were non-verbal also had learning difficulties, and I think that contributed to their lack of speech. I have worked with quite a few non-verbal autistic children, which is different of course as eventually quite a few of them did gain a few words....

I recently made a post about a job advert that fell into my inbox and piqued my interest. It has made me think further about my current career choice. I am employed as a teaching assistant, studying my final year for a degree, after which I am hoping to do a course which will qualify me to teach, ho...

I think sometimes when we are put in completely unfamiliar situations, without the usual people that surround us, we have the freedom (for a short period of time) to be whoever we want. An aspie could probably keep this up short term, for a week or two, but in my experience no longer than this. For ...

I'd say they're all linked to anxiety. I suppose it might be somewhat difficult to differentiate between autistic stimming and OCD behaviour. Much of the rituals I associate with being OCD-like are repetitive phrases that I say in my head or under my breath.

I certainly have some OCD like features, my therapist said a lot of autistic people do. My thoughts are often circular and obsessive and anxious.

There is limited support/funding in my area, so anything I need I get myself if I can. Some things are just out of budget but I know the following would be helpful (some are obviously unrealistic) cleaner cook/delivered meals someone reminding me of all the things I have/need to do or taking notes a...

I can sound very different across contexts. Usually it's a fairly young-sounding voice, mid to high pitched for an adult female, but when I'm with my counsellor my voice is a lot lower and more monotone - I don't know if that's what my actual, natural voice is. If I am around people with strong acce...

I find supermarkets stressful. There are too many choices, and sometimes I don't know what I want, other times I know what I want but if they don't have it I am unable to form a backup plan on the spot. So I scrunch my toes up and ball my hands into fists, shift from foot to foot and stand and stare...
