I'm transgender. I was born a boy and started to transition to female at the age of 16, I'm now 24. I've read studies on androgyny and autism and how there could be a possible correlation but I don't know if there's anything concrete yet.

No. Windows were invented for convenience and light. Try wearing noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs when you need the toilet.

Tony Atwood has said that he diagnosed a kid with aspergers and then re-assessed them when they were older and found that they didn't actually meet the criteria for aspergers/ASD anymore. Perhaps you really were misdiagnosed and a reassessment would highlight that? Have you tried to get re-assessed?

When I was younger and had regular contact with people via school I also felt that feeling of "everyone else is doing it and I'm missing out because of how weird I am". I think the reason why it bugged me so much was because it used to make me angry at myself for being so unusual. I used t...

- OCD - Sensory issues (food, touch, smells, sound) - Attention deficit (I've literally gotten distracted 10 times whilst writing the first 2 lines of this) - Underweight due to selective diet due to sensory issues - Inability to read facial expressions and listen to someone simultaneously - Dyslexi...

I have quite bad OCD. I think it falls under "pure O" or "pure obsessional", which apparently just means it's mostly mental compulsions instead of, for example, flicking a light switch on and off 18 times. I struggle mostly with "what if?" thoughts nowadays. Worrying wh...

I'm the same. It never really feels like PAIN but it feels like when someone touches you with a really cold object or something. Like you, I can prepare myself for it and be alright-ish but it does still suck that being touched feels horrible to me. I've also found that I can go the opposite way and...

I'm actually quite alright with not 'fitting in'. I don't see much of a point in fitting in. I used to really want to fit in back when I was younger and I had no control over my environment and I had to go to school and such, because fitting in at school would have been advantageous and meant I'd su...

I've been this way for as long as I can remember. I've always hated washing, that includes washing my hair, body, cleaning my teeth etc. I just seem to avoid it or put it off for as long as I can but I'm not sure why I do it. My dad used to say that if he and my mother didn't force me to wash then I...

Maybe see a counselor through your school? Absolutely not! School counselors are school's flying monkeys. Their job is keep the school free of "problems" (read: the OP), rather than make life better for individual students. So a school counselor will make OP's life more difficult, to make...

A lot of people with ASD tend to "self medicate" with substances, as it stops us struggling so much socially. Obviously it doesn't make us any more socially knowledgeable but it does help to neutralise the anxiety caused by social situations. I also drank way too much as an 18-19 year old ...

No. I actually live in hope that I've been misdiagnosed all this time and that I'm just living with my co-morbids and/or some other disorder. But it's unlikely that's the case, because there are people less affected than me who are being diagnosed with it. I've had this diagnosis for 20+ years and ...

Not I. The mental-health professionals that diagnosed me were appropriately trained and licensed. Their diagnoses explained much more in 30 minutes than the previous 50+ years of guessing and worrying ever did. I trust them. Thats fair. I have quite bad OCD and because of this I tend to doubt liter...
