Since ghosts do not exist, the woman in question must either be deliberately lying, or hopelessly delusional. Actually, hallucinations like this are very common while people are falling asleep. It's related to sleep paralysis and dreaming. I'm saying, this woman probably developed a sleep disorder....

You're never too old to develop schizophrenia, but I highly suggest you stop worrying about it and stop researching mental health disorders. It's actually better not to know what labels you were given and to just try to cope with the symptoms you have. Knowing the labels and researching their histor...

Hello. I am an adult with classic autism who lives in the USA, and I live a life subsidized by government aid. My (divorced) parents can afford to take care of me. A lot of people believe that because my parents can afford to take care of me, I should not be allowed to receive government aid. This o...

Sometimes speech delays are caused by undiagnosed mild epilepsy, which your kid could have from a minor head injury that you don't even know about. Some people with epilepsy don't convulse at all, but get tense muscles or move around for no apparent reason. Or make noises they can't control. Your ki...

Having children is probably the worst thing anyone can do in their personal lives to our world's environment (many people can do worse to the environment at work). The carbon footprint of having a child includes the carbon footprint of every future descendent of that child (or a portion thereof, to ...

It's always best to work with your doctor when trying to discontinue a psychiatric medication... both because there might be a better option you can switch to, and because some psychiatric medications can have really bad withdrawal symptoms -- even when they're marketed as "not addictive" ...

Well... I'm thinking about this more, and I realized that of course a woman might want to earn an income to supplement her family's income, not because she is being abused at home -- BUT: That would still not be an issue of women being oppressed. That's an issue of the poor being oppressed. Anyway, ...

I think it's really not oppression. I think that if a woman in a culture where women traditionally do not earn incomes wants to earn an income, then it means her husband is (or male relatives are) abusing her in general , and that that abuse would be happening no matter what their culture says about...

Today (March 8th) is International Women's Day. In recognition of Women's Day, I want to share with everyone what I think is the obvious purpose of gender roles and of forcing women to only work in the home: This is a way to encourage (in fact, practically FORCE) heterosexual marriage. Think about i...

When you think of yourself as being subhuman, you're focusing too narrowly on your flaws and ignoring your strengths. Also, being undesirable to "normal" people doesn't mean you are a lesser being. Maybe you ARE part of the start of a new species of human that "normal" humans don...

Take the dog with you everywhere you go for at least 3 months and let it sleep in your bedroom. Treat it like a child. Never make it sleep outsid... |

It's better not to worry about what your diagnosis is. Getting attached to a diagnostic label might make your therapy less effective. The BEST way to make friends that I know of is to join a group or club. Your profile summary says you're 14 years old: I suggest you try talking to your guidance coun...

It is normal for me to have coherent conversations with these "ghosts"; they seem to respond to me. I often think I am hearing the thoughts of other living humans, and sometimes they try to convince the they are gods (or God the Almighty). This is my normal life. I spend a LOT of time alon...

My experience is that once your community finds out that you have a serious mental health issue, people can't feel safe around you anymore until they know you're on meds. I'm not trying to support their belief that you should take medication, but you should know that people will feel safer around yo...
