I encountered https://github.com/standardgalactic , which has a vast amount of quite interesting if abstruse ideas and implementations of this language. I think a lot of it is ai generated. Anyway i was deeply disheartened when i saw people on reddit assuming whoever made it was "very sick"...

I read this about 12 years ago, and still feel deeply touched by the story. I think it is a well written take of neurodivergence, encompassing both extremes that can be highly relatable to those on the spectrum. Too smart and too stupid to fit in. I realise after learning more about myself why i fou...

I have verified with a few people that unfortunately the parents in this city all made the same mistakes, and everyone below the age of 30 is a narcissist. - The parents were either alcoholic, emotionally absent, or "parentifying the child". - Without the "safety" of a caring par...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Autistic people seeing through nonsense

I've seen plenty of autistic people who don't see through nonsense any better than NTs. Yeah, me too. It would be interesting to see research on this topic. In general, I would expect autistics to be worse at seeing through nonsense than NTs, especially taking into account different levels, social ...

Yeah I read a book by Tony Attwood that said that framing "learning NT thinking" as learning a new language is a more palatable framing than "masking". I am not sure. I think I kind of want to flip your argument. Rather than seeing "translating" as neutral, I think it s...

It depends on you. I worked in a bakery once and it was horrible because the culture required a lot of socializing with the other bakers who were kind of weird, and did not understand my particular mindset. Some were reformed criminals. However, now much later in life I could handle that environment...

I heard an interesting youtube video that mentioned eckhart toll and some other philosophers noted a phenomenon whereby "there is always more going on in the moment" than can be written down. But a lot of pain can happen when you try to pretend and make a mask - limiting your identity to a...

I just see more and more of this stuff and it filter over into real life, like these crypto heist folks . So abusive. I have also noticed that people who work for corporations kind of bring their s**t into everyday life eventually. Like using HR communication strategies when people are angry with th...

Exactly. Very dehumanizing. The brain is the most complicated object in the universe, and these people claim to understand it with surveys. History is replete with examples of how a lot of illnesses change with whatever politics is in fashion at the time. Being gay was an illness, I think there was ...

> but I think many are quite blind to how they affect their perception of and relationship with their clients. My impression of all the 4 therapists I met and know as friends is they would have definitely diagnosed and gossiped about a brilliant author or artist. It takes brainpower to be open minde...

This is also probably right wing propaganda. It has the effect that autists are no different.

This is bad therapy. The therapist is trying to get the autist to conform to NT standards of morality, which are pretty f*****g low if you look at the state of the world. NTs can just walk past social slights or moral problems with ease, but Autists *care*. It's part of who we are. We care deeply ab...

That's pretty bad. Real autists have real struggles.

But I think broadly there are common struggles that might trigger this.
Neoliberalism commodifies relationships causing loneliness. People are overworked and under socialised
causing loneliness and loss of connection.

It was an enjoyable film, although the characters were kind of jolty. I felt they had a bunch of messages to get across and they made the script around that rather than an actual plot. Lots of cringy pet-related stuff which I detest. I enjoyed the first film better. I am a bit squeamish when people ...
